Throughout history there has been a series of mass murders that have accured. Below is a list from the early 1900's to the present time of the mass murders that have taken place and the details about them.


 

July 1914: Simone Pianetti took his rifle and shot and killed 7 people. Upon his attempt to be captured by the Carabinieri he ran off into the mountains and was never seen again and a body was never found.

May.1938: In a rural village close to Tsuyama City in Okayama, Japan the Tsuyama Massacre took place. The massacre resulted in the deaths of 30 people and the serious injury of three. The event was conducted by a man known as Mutsuo Toi.

Sept. 1949: Howard Unruh left his house for a twelve minute walk around his Camden, New Jersey neighborhood, shooting people at random and killing 13.

Jan. 1958: Charlie Starkweather & Caril Ann Fugate went on a gunning spree after killing Caril�s parents and sister. The two of them traveled through Nebraska and were captured in Wyoming ultimately killing eleven people.

July 1966: Charles Whitman barricaded himself in the University of Texas clock tower and began shooting at students below. The shoot off lasted 90 minutes and ultimately killed 18 people and wounded 30 others.

Dec: 1972: Mark James Robert Essex hid down the street from a police station and target police with a .44 magnum killing 10 people and wounding 13 others in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Mar. 1975: James Ruppert shot and killed his mother, brother, sister-in-law and eight nieces and nephews at an Easter Sunday dinner in Hamilton, Ohio. The 11 victims were shot a total of 35 times.

July 1976: Edward Charles opened fired with a .22 caliber rifle in the basement library of the California State University in Fullerton. He killed seven people and injured two.

March 1978: Dalal Mughrabi and her Palestinian Fedayeen unit of eleven members captured a bus and after being chased by the local military shot, killed and ultimately blew up the bus killing an estimated thirty five civilians and six Palestinian guerillas and left seventy-one civilians wounded.

1982: Carl Brown shot and killed 8 people at a Miami machine shop where he just recently had his lawn mower worked on. He was then caught trying to escape and ran over by civilians chasing him.

April 1982: A police officer gathered weapons from the local armory and used his police status to enter homes and kill those who were there. He either shot them or killed them with grenades. The officer continued this for eight hours.

Sept 1982: George Banks went on a shooting spree and killed 13 people with an AR-15 high-powered rifle in Wilkes-Barre City and Jenkins Township.

July 1984: James Oliver Huberty dressed in camouflage and went to McDonalds in San Ysidro. At McDonalds he opened fire and killed 21 people before a sniper shot ended his life.

Aug. 1986: Pat Sherrill, a postal worker, killed 14 people and wounded six others with a .45 caliber semiautomatic pistol in Edmond, Oklahoma post office.

Aug. 1987: Michael Ryan in Hungerford, England killed 16 people and wounded 14 others then shot himself.

Aug. 1987: Julian Knight shot his way down the busy Melbourne street killing 7 and wounding 19

Dec. 1987: Frank Vitkovic killed eight people and injured 17 others when entering into a Australian post office and began to rampage. After the shootings he took a leap from the 11th floor and killed himself.

Jan. 1989: In Stockton CA, Patrick Purdy open fired on the school playground with a Chinese-made Type 56 semi-automatic rifle, killing five children and wounding twenty-nine others and a teacher. He then shot himself.

Dec. 1989: In Montreal Quebec, Marc L�pine, armed with a legally obtained semi-automatic rifle and a hunting knife, shot twenty-eight people, killing fourteen and injured fourteen before killing himself.

June 1990: James Edward Pough entered a GMC loan office in Jacksonville, FL killing ten people and wounding 5 others, then killed himself.

Nov. 1990: David Gray conducted the Aramoana massacre in Aramoana, New Zealand. Gray went on a shooting rampage and killed 13 people, before Gray himself was shot by police.

Aug. 1991: Wade Frankum killed 8 people when he open fired his Chinese assault rifle in a suburban shopping mall in Strathfield, Australia. Then he killed himself.

Oct. 1991: George Jo Hennard Drove a Ford pickup truck into the windows of Luby�s Caf� in Texas and then open fired at people throughout the caf� killing 23 and wounding 20. After running low of ammo he shot himself.

July 1993: Gian Luigi Ferri rampaged through the Pettit and Martin Law offices in San Francisco killing eight and wounding six. She then turned the gun on herself.

Dec 1993: Colin Ferguson murdered six people and injured nineteen others on the Long Island Rail Road in Garden City, New York. Ferguson open fired as people began to exit from the train as it pulled into the Merillon Avenue Station.

Feb. 1994: Baruch Kappel Goldstein in the city of Hebron, killed 29 Arabs at prayer in the Ibrahimi Mosque and wounded another 150 in a shooting attack. This attack is now known as the Cave of the Patriarchs massacre.

June 1994: Mattias Flink used a AK5 rifle in Falun, Sweden to kill bystanders in the streets. He shot a total of 47 times and hit his target every time. Unltimately he killed 7 people and wounded many others.

Sept 1995: Eric Borel killed 13 people using weapons such as a baseball bat, hammer and .22 caliber hunting rifle. This occurred in the village of Cuers.

Mar. 1996: Thomas Hamilton a pedophile, opened fire in a Dublane, Scotland School killing 17 people and wounding dozen others for being fired as a Scout Master

April 1996: Mark Chahal in Vernon, British Columbia killed his wife, her sister a bride-to-be and seven of her relatives.

April 1996: Martin Bryant used two semi-automatic weapons to shoot at people inside the Broken Arrow Caf� in Port Arthur, Tasmania.

Mar. 1997: A school massacre that occurred in Sanaa, Yemen, on March 30, 1997 known as the Sanaa massacre, was conducted by Mohammad Ahman al-Naziri who allegedly open fired on hundreds of people in the school killing six children and two adults with an assault rifle. His reasoning was because  one of his daughters had been raped by the school administrator.

May 1997: Genildo Ferreira de Franca conducted a 22 hour shooting spree killing 15 people with a automatic rifle and then went to a wooded area and killed himself.

June 1997: Sgt. Artur Vaganov shot and killed ten sleeping soldiers in a breakaway region of Abkhazia in the former Soviet republic of Georgia. He then turned the gun on himself.

Sept. 1997: Saber & Mahmoud Farahat Abu el-Ulla launched an attack to avenge a cartoon drawn by a Jewish woman in Israel. The two brothers attacked a bus outside the Egyptian Museum in Cairo leaving nine German tourist and their Egyptian driver dead.

Mar. 1998: In Jonesboro AR, Mitchell Johnson and Andrew Golden shot and killed four female students and a teacher. Nine other students and a teacher were wounded.

May 1998: Student Kipland "Kip" Kinkel killed his parents, murdered two classmates, and injured 25 others with a .22 caliber rifle, a .22 caliber handgun, and a 9mm Glock semi-automatic pistol.

June 1998: Drug Rampage in Sao Paulo included three men heavily armed who opened fired in a bar in Sao Paulo. Eleven people were killed and 3 others were wounded.

April 1999: Eric Harris & Dylan Klebold were students at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. They killed 13 students and a teacher with two sawed-off shotguns, explosives, a .9 mm rifle and a semiautomatic pistol. The shootings lasted 4 hours ending when the two boys shot themselves in the school library.

July 1999: Mark O. Barton killed his family and then 9 other people (wounding 12 others) at the brokerage offices in Atlanta GA. After his shootings he escaped and later shot himself.

Aug. 1999: Buford O'Neal Furrow, Jr. perpetrated a day care center at the North Valley Jewish Community Center and began shooting. The shooting injured three children, and a receptionist. He also shot and killed a US Postal Service carrier.

Sept. 1999: Larry Gene Ashbrook murdered seven people and injured seven at a Christian Rock concert in Fort Worth, Texas. Ashbrook then committed suicide.

Nov. 1999: Byran Koji Uyesugi committed the Xerox murders in Honolulu, Hawaii killing seven of his co-workers. On the day of the event, Uyesugi entered the building and opened fire with a .9mm. He killed his supervisor and six other workers.

Dec. 2000: A software engineer Michael McDermott opened fire on workers in the Edgewater Technology building in Wakefield, MA. McDermott killed seven people by shooting them in the back of the head repeatedly with either a 12 gauge shotgun or a .32 caliber pistol

June 2001: At the Narayanhity Royal Palace during a party Crown Prince Dipendra became drunk and disrupted and forced to leave the party. Within an hour he returned, armed with an assault rifle and killed his family and then himself.

March 2002: Richard Durn, in Nanterre, France, stormed a late-night meeting of councilors in Nanterre town hall, and began firing. Eight councilors died in the attack. Durn died the following day, after leaping from a police station window during questioning.

April 2002: Occurring at the Johann Gutenberg Gymnasium in Erfurt, Germany Sixteen people were shot and killed before the gun man had committed suicide. The victims comprised 13 school staff, two students and one police officer. In addition, seven people were injured

Sept. 2004: A group of armed Chechen separatists and supporters took more than 1,200 schoolchildren and adults hostage in the town of Beslan, North Ossetia-Alania, On the third day of the standoff, a chaotic gunbattle broke out between the hostage-takers and Russian security forces. Three hundred and thirty-four civilians were killed, including 186 children, and hundreds more were wounded.

Mar. 2005: Jeffrey Weise, a student at Red Lake High School in Red Lake, Minnesota, killed seven people including a teacher and a security guard before committing suicide. He had also killed his grandfather and his grandfather's girlfriend at his home before shooting at the school.

Mar. 2005: Terry Ratzmann killed seven members of congregation at the Living Church of God, at the Sheraton Hotel in Brookfield, Wisconsin. He had left the building twenty minutes earlier, and returned carrying his .9mm handgun and fired 22 rounds into the congregation killing the minister and six others including the minister's son.

Mar. 2006: Kyle Aaron Huff entered a rave after party in the southeast part of Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood and opened fire, killing six and wounding two. He then turned the gun on himself as he was being confronted by police.

Oct. 2006: Charles Carl Roberts IV took hostages and eventually killed five girls and then killed himself at West Nickel Mines School, a one-room Amish schoolhouse in Nickel Mines, a village in, Pennsylvania.

Feb. 2007: At Trolley Square Mall in Salt Lake City, Utah a shooter killed five bystanders and himself, while wounding at least four others. The killer was terminated by five police officers.

April 2007: Seung-Hui Cho performed two separate attacks about two hours apart on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Virginia. Cho, killed 32 people and wounded many more before committing suicide, making it the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history.

July 2007: Nikola Radosavljevic took a hunting rifle and shot dead five men and four women in the Serbian village of Jabukovac, near the border with Romania and Bulgaria. Two other people were seriously injured.

Oct. 2007: Tyler Peterson of Crandon Wisconsin murdered six people, during a homecoming party inside a small apartment. A dispute between Peterson and others is thought to have preceded the shootings. Peterson was initially believed to have been killed by a police sniper, but it was later reported that he may have committed suicide by multiple gunshots

Nov. 2007: At the Jokela High School in the town of Jokela, Tuusula municipality, Finland, a gunman known as Pekka-Eric Auvinen, killed nine people: five male students and one female adult student, the school principal, the school nurse, and himself. One other person suffered gunshot wounds, and eleven people were injured by shattering glass while escaping from the school building.

Dec. 2007: Robert A. Hawkins  entered the Von-Maur store of the Westroads Mall in Omaha, Nebraska and killed nine people including himself. Five other people were injured, two of whom were in critical condition.

Feb 14, 2008: Steven P. Kazmierczak shot 22 students in a Geology class at Northern IL University, killing 5. He then shot himself.
