A statement that I hear occasionally is, “Every religion serves the same god they just call him by a different name.” Hmm.. Is their only one “god” or is ‘god” a supernatural being that is more or less who you want him to be or what you understand him to be?
I have not done extensive research but I do know that most world religions have a defined view of who their “god” is and they vary greatly.
With such wide degrees of variation in philosophies, traditions, types of worship, religious practices, and ceremonies could all of these be for different “gods” or are all of these doctrinal expressions simply culturally based? I am not talking about Baptist as opposed to Methodist or Presbyterian vs. Assembly of God.
The differences in mainstream Christian denominations are varied enough to make you wonder. What about Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, or the many other religions practiced around the world? Are they all worshiping the same “god?” This is a “yes” or “no” question but, it does require qualification. I truly believe there is more than one god so, that would be a “yes.”
Now the qualification, Deuteronomy 5:7: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” (the first commandment). This Scripture does not say there are no other gods. It says “no other gods before me.”
People all over this world worship different gods, some worship “God” others worship “god” or “gods.” Allah, Buddha, and the thousands of Hindu gods are not the Holy God, there is only one. His name is:
God Almighty (El Shaddai), Genesis 17:1.
God the fathe,r Colossians 3:17.
God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob Exodus 3:16.
God of gods Deuteronomy 10:17.
Most High, Genesis 14:18-22.
Creator of heaven and earth, Genesis 14:19.
The Alpha and Omega, Revelation 1:8.
These other gods are simply a plan of Satan to deceive as many as possible into believing as long as they worship a god that their eternal security is taken care of. This deception has a second purpose as well, to develop an ecumenical one-world religion. A religion that will call for worldwide peace under the name of a false god based on lies straight out of hell.
God created mankind with the free will to choose whom he shall serve. Man has tried to fill that void in his heart with many different things (gods). Drugs, alcohol, other men, works, material possessions, or other gods will not bring the peace that every man is looking for nor will it bring eternal life. God has not promised a life without trials and tribulation.
He has promised to love you and give the grace and mercy to allow you to live with peace in your heart that no matter what happens, He is in control and will work everything out for the good for those that love Him (Romans 8:28).
