Often I think about those Christians who have preceded us in death. I wonder what they are doing, how they are feeling, what they are experiencing. I wonder about their “transfer” from earth to Heaven. How did it happen? Were they escorted into Heaven by the Lord’s angels? What was their reaction when they actually saw Jesus? What is Heaven like?
The Bible gives us some information on these questions, but very little and not the whole picture. It’s one of those situations that, “we’ll know when it happens.” Sometimes I can hardly wait, but then again, I don’t want to leave this earth any more than the next sane person. My thought is we don’t want to leave this life any more than a baby wants to leave the comfort of its mother’s womb, but there is so much more to behold when we do.
Two Christian men went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2013 of whom I had much respect; Ron Graham and Jack Kinsella. I read all their articles, and always looked forward to doing so. I never met them. I never spoke with them either by phone, email or letter, but I felt like I knew them. I will greatly miss their articles.
So many humble men and women of God have gone on to be with the Lord. Some were well known while upon this earth, and some were known by only a few, perhaps only their family and friends.
I have touched upon this subject before, so I will keep this article short.
I too sometimes just don’t understand why our Lord takes some home when it seems they have so much more to do. There is so much more they could have provided us who remain. I certainly am not questioning our Lord’s judgment, just simply saying I often don’t understand. The Apostle Paul said about that;
“Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.” (1 Corinthians 13:12 NLT)
That comforts me. I hope it does you too. We just have to trust the Lord that He knows what He is doing, because He does. We could compare ourselves to a child trying to understand things that only an adult can understand. When we are ready, we will understand. In the meantime, let us trust Him and continue His bidding.
It is a joy to think of the happiness that a Christian will experience when going home to be with his/her Savior and Lord. It is not a joy to think of those who have nothing to look forward to but judgment.
The wonderful news (the Gospel) is that all who come to Jesus will not be turned away.
“All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.” (John 6:37 ESV)
You too can have a glorious reunion with the one and only true God, as those Christians who have gone before us, if you just put your trust in Him alone today.
