Jesus, the Son of God, prophesied many things while He was on earth (Deut. 18:15), much like Moses. He was a prophet and in the presence of His disciples, He was prophesying about His coming back to establish the kingdom of God on earth when He said:
“But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation. And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed” (Luke 17:25-30).
First, Jesus prophesied that He would have to suffer and be rejected by the disciple’s generation before He comes again. He was referring to His suffering and death on the cross as the Lamb of God who would die for the sins of the world (John 1:29).
Christ’s death would be an act of God’s love and serve as an atonement for the sins of everyone who believes in Him, repents of their sins and asks Him to save them (murderers, thieves, liars, gays, straight, whoever; John 3:16; Acts 3:19). It would be sufficient to get everyone into the kingdom of God from the Creation through all eternity. But those who rejected this would perish (Matt. 10:32-33).
Second, Jesus prophesied that society will be like it was in the days of Noah when He returns. Books have been written on this, but the main focus of this article is on the rainbow. In the days of Noah, God created the rainbow to remind every living creature that He keeps His Word (Gen. 9:13-17). He doesn’t need to be reminded to keep His Word, but every living creature needs to be reminded that He keeps His Word.
On June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage is legal. All nine judges and almost everyone in the U.S. has heard that God called this an abomination and said that those who do this will not be in the kingdom (Gen.18:20; Lev.18:22; 20:13; Rom. 1:18-28; 1 Cor. 6:9-10; Col. 3:5-6).
But when five of the Supreme Court judges foolishly ignored God’s Word and announced their decision multitudes waved rainbow flags (a sign that God keeps His Word), hugged, kissed, danced, ate, drank, rejoiced; and some even married and gave in marriage.
At the White House, colored lights had been installed to shine on the building and it was lit up like a giant rainbow. Perhaps Pres. Obama didn’t intend to gloat, but some think it was a malicious act of boasting and self-glorification or perhaps an in-your-face provocation of God’s people.
This writer wondered if the God who sent His only begotten Son to die for the sins of the world might be using that to remind every living creature that He keeps His Word. And just as surely as His judgment fell on the unrighteous of Noah’s day it will fall on the unrighteous when Jesus returns as a Lion and they will be without excuse.
It will be a sad day but there could be no greater announcement that the days of Noah have arrived than to have the White House lit up like a rainbow.
Third, Jesus prophesied that society will be like it was in the days of Lot when He returns. When Lot took the two angels to his house “the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them” (Gen. 19:4-5).
Sodom didn’t have presidents and judges like the U.S. has today but it’s obvious that whatever it had, the old, the young and all the people from every quarter approved of the homosexual lifestyle. It was the accepted practice in that wicked place.
It is sad, but there could be no greater announcement that the days of Lot have arrived than to announce to the world that what God calls an abomination is a national human right.
For whatever it is worth, many will disagree, but this writer believes that the days of Noah are a type of the Second Coming where the lost will be removed and the saved will be left behind to repopulate the earth during the Millennium (the Kingdom of God on earth).
And the days of Lot are a type of the Rapture where the saved will be removed like Lot and the lost will be left behind for destruction. So wave the rainbow flags in front of the Supreme Court; put them on Facebook; wave them all over the world; light up San Francisco and the White House like a rainbow every night.
Tell every living creature that the rainbow is a sign that God keeps His Word; that the days of Noah and the days of Lot have arrived and are sure signs of His Coming.
The sinless Groom will remove His unworthy Bride for a real marriage. And His strong judgment will fall on the unrighteous.
