I have so much to be thankful for as I begin the life journey into my golden years. Does this sound sad to you? It shouldn’t be sad at all. Come to think of it, I am happier now than I have ever been in all my years of life as I look forward to my own “three score years and ten” (70 years). I am thrilled to be where I am and to know what I know, and believe.
I have lived through a few wars and fervently lived my own inner war; to live and be as I am today. The world is so very lost because they believe that this world is all there is. How sad is it to be so blind, to the point you can’t see the very nose in the middle of your face? There seems to be this special sort of fog in front of your eyes and it obliterates the view of your nose. And if you can’t see your own nose because of that fog, what else do you think you are not seeing?
If you are not able to see your own nose, how will you see to be truly successful in this life? How will you know who you are married to or how wonderful your children are, when you can’t see them and know them? How will you be able to know where your company is going if there is no road for you to see? Obviously, far too many are simply wandering around in this fog and hoping and praying they are doing everything correctly! Yet…if you are not able to see, how will you know for sure?
Proverbs 3:1-12: “My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.”
How is it that so many people are wandering around this world, lost to the true perspective of God and still believe they are accomplishing something of real worth? If you stop for a moment and think on that, is that truth that you see? It is obvious, far too many are not asking the real question: Why are we here?
Then they ask others the same question and believe the eloquence of their words, but never if they are expounding the truth. The verse above is better than 4500 years old and people look down on it? Why is that? If age brings wisdom from experience, then how can the words of 4500 years be wrong? If that is so then how is it that the scoffers…think…they are correct?
If I go out my door and smell the breeze and it contains moisture, do I believe it is going to rain? Or do I need to wait for the thunder to believe so? Do I need to wait till the water is up to my knees to believe there is a flood taking place? If I feel there is a disaster taking place, is now the time for me to be concerned?
Or should I have been looking a little ahead to be safe and careful? It sounds so very simple and yet how many will cross a low-water crossing and get stuck in the flood waters? If wisdom is precious, then why do we wait till we’re in trouble before we begin to think and act? Hey, don’t get angry at me, this happens all the time, it’s in the news and in the morgues. You tell me!
God gives us a brain and the time to experience things, so that wisdom teaches you what you need to know and then you act accordingly. Why do so many people drive into deep water all the time? Why is it that the Bible, tells us that the majority will not follow Jesus Christ?
Why is it then, the majority will experience the lake of fire, instead of heaven? The simple answer is that they do not want to think or plan ahead. It is simply too much of an effort, therefore when they are headed to the lake of fire, they will be screaming that they did NOT know or understand. Deny the truth and you will suffer the consequences!
The Bible is older than 4500 years. That being the case, there has been sufficient time for everyone to read it and adjust their lives accordingly. What does that say for the majority that are headed for the lake of fire? It is simple! They chose not to read it, because it convicted them of their sin and that is not a good thing for them. They chose not to believe it, because it complicated their lives, too much to understand and they had other plans for their day.
Thus in the end, how many of these are willing to look at themselves and say honestly, they deserve where they are going? Typically, these will be the ones cursing and threatening on their path to eternal destruction. They denied God in their lives, they had other plans, yet they can’t take their own medicine, that they asked for and simply go quietly. Tell me that is not true!
Matthew 11:25-30: “At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Funny how the Lord works to make everything in this life…just right. And that is for everyone who is willing to listen to what HE has to say and then to believe it. The Lord created this earth and everything in it, right up to our very next breath of air. But how many are people willing to look at that and believe God gave them this blessing and then thank HIM for it? Would you then think that these people know what is real and what is not?
Then why would you listen to them? Could it be that you think they are wise and educated?
Wise and educated in what?
The Word of God, HIS holy message to you and me. Those that believe in evolution think the world is hundreds of millions of years old, when the Bible tells you it is not. If that is so, and I believe the Bible, then why would you listen to what they have to say? And when you stand before Jesus Christ, looking into HIS eyes, what are you going to say then? Are you going to expound all that wrong information? Yeah…I didn’t think so!
You need to remember one thing from the Word of God and HE is saying it to you:
John 14:4-7: “And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.”
Trust me when I say, you can’t get there from here, without Jesus Christ…HE IS GOD!
