Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
That is a verse of Scripture we need to think and consider often! And there is a reason for this statement. First let’s look at our own sin, just yours, and let’s be honest here. There is no way for you to lie to yourself. You KNOW your own sin. Consider your entire lifetime, how much sin do you believe is in your life? Now take a moment and consider your own city, how much sin do you believe is in your own city?
Is that something you could wrap your head around? In other words, is the sin of everyone in your city something you could picture in your head? I am not willing to consider the sin in my state, or surely not the country as a whole. The entire world, would then be way beyond my ability to comprehend. Suffice to say, it grows exponentially with each and every individual ever born! Now that is A LOT of sin.
Jeremiah 31:34: “And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
In other words my friends, the Lord God has already made a way out for us—when we consider our own sin. Of course, this requires that you accept the “gift” of Jesus Christ and follow Him continually. It is the blood HE shed on the cross of Calvary, that covers our sin and the Lord God will not remember them. Having said that, make sure you read and understand the next sentence. That does NOT give you carte blanche to go out and sin even more. You’re to walk away from your old sinful self. You are now a “new creature” by virtue of the Lord God Almighty! THIS…my friends….is some very serious stuff, let there be NO mistake about this.
I read in my devotions this morning: “Confess them and bury them in His sea of forgetfulness.”
What a concept to read and understand, a “sea of forgetfulness.” And if I am correct, the vastness of our oceans would not be able to hold the sin of all the people on this earth. Now that, is a lot of sin. And to think for one moment, that the Lord God knows this and still forgives us if we ask Him to.
I know, I am born-again to Jesus Christ and I have nailed my old self to His cross at Calvary. Thus, if I sin and ask His forgiveness for it, He will. And that is according to His promise that He made in that verse in Jeremiah. There is this problem though. There are people that will say to themselves, “Well, then I can go on and sin more and still be forgiven and still go to heaven!” Let me caution you on that. The Lord God knows the intent of your heart. So if you walk to the front of the church and say you want to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior…with this idea to sin anyway, in your heart…are you then truly saved? Dang it. Don’t ya just hate those “oops” moments?
God Almighty is the Creator of YOU! Having said that, wouldn’t you believe that HE has an inside track on everything you say or do and every thought you have? (Oops!) If you believe otherwise, you are only fooling yourself—for your own wants and desires. That in and of itself, is a sin! It is then most obvious, you haven’t a clue as to what this life is all about or why we are here or what we are to be doing. Did you forget that there is the Bible—Gods Holy Word to you and me—to define those reasons?
It is one thing to run around and deceive others, it is an entirely different concept to run around and continually deceive yourself, because you already “know better” than that. Then it is very obvious that NO ONE is able to walk away from their own SIN. That is painfully obvious to all. Why do you think there are “excuses?” Which we know, are nothing more than an endeavor to rationalize a sin, an effort to make it anything else than a sin. Sorry my friend, it doesn’t work that way and God said so in His Word, the Bible.
Have you never wondered why it is such a shaming occurrence to be found naked in public? It is always surrounded by another sin, which you chose to commit. Now that you are found out, it is very shameful. Or how about every other sin, which is usually done in secret and in darkness? If it is brought into the light for all to see, the person responsible is always ashamed, whether they are willing to show that or not.
If the president does a socially unacceptable act, is it told in the papers or on the Internet? Absolutely NOT! That would disgrace the office of the presidency, right? Eventually, those actions are shown to the public, in time. Then Bible says in Numbers 32:23: “But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out.”There’s that “oops again”!
Again, I am going to caution all to follow Jesus Christ with every ounce of your strength and willpower, because HE is the only One that can save you from your sin. We must remember the verses above, that it is YOUR sin that will either condemn you to the lake of fire or the forgiveness of your Sin that will grant you to Heaven! My Friends, it is that Simple!
I am able to comprehend the “sea of forgetfulness” when I consider the breadth and the depth and the vastness of the sea. The problem is that my own sin, often eludes me. Therefore I am to go to the Father in prayer and ask Him to seek out any and all my sin and bring it to my attention and then it is up to me to ask Him for His forgiveness of that sin.
Trust me when I say that this is an ongoing situation for each and every one of us. Saved or Not, we are still living here on earth and we still commit sin. None of us, saved or not, will ever be perfect, we will continue to sin. The single act of God’s forgiveness of our sin is the ONLY deciding factor available. That factor ALONE determines whether you or I are condemned to the lake of fire or not. The ultimate theme of the Bible is to get us to understand that our Sin separates us, you and me—from God Almighty!”
To be forgiven of our sin allows you and me to stand before God. Sin will NOT be tolerated before God. He will destroy that Sin and whom it belongs to. It is imperative…that we go before Jesus Christ and accept His forgiveness of our Sin and ask Him to live within us and guide us and direct every moment of our lives. We must accept His blood to cover our Sin, otherwise it is not forgiven! Please my friends, remember, “The wages of Sin is death!” It is the blood of Jesus Christ, from His cross at Calvary that erases our Sin forever. That means heaven for you and me!
