During the first week of legal same-sex marriage in our state of North Carolina, Mecklenburg County issued 144 marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples. The same week LGBT communities all over America celebrated and were popping bottles of champagne as judges in Alaska, Arizona, and Wyoming struck down existing state laws that prohibited gay marriage.
The Obama Administration responded where they have led, and the DOJ ordered that it will now recognize same-sex marriages in 7 additional states, Colorado, Indiana, Nevada, Oklahoma, Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia. The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on October 6th has quickly led to a sweeping expansion of gay rights over our nation, and as this past month has revealed—it is a race toward 50. And there’s more…
The city of Houston led by lesbian Mayor Annise Parker, recently filed a petition through the court demanding copies of sermons from local area pastors and later added to her demands by subpoenaing speeches by the same pastors. Not to be left out, megapastor Brian Houston of Hillsong, responding to the issue of same-sex marriage, stated, “The world is changing and we want to stay relevant as a church.”
Across the pond, Pope Francis after meeting with Bishops and Cardinals at the Vatican, issued a statement that said, “We should recognize the positive aspects of homosexual unions and cohabitation and also believe that gays have gifts to offer the church.” Pope Francis later issued this statement, “God is not afraid of new things.” (Wake me up, none of this is make-believe!)
Let’s go on: The state of Idaho added to the chorus and has threatened to arrest ministers that refuse to perform gay marriages. And last but not least, President Obama issued a statement, praising the Supreme courts recent ruling on gay marriage. There you have it, a wrap up on news and headlines that show us just how far and fast America has moved away from God’s good and holy and perfect plan for family order.
Friends, when you look honestly at all of this and consider what God’s Word says about sodomy and homosexuality, then you know that it is a sure sign that Jesus is about to break through the clouds, and that is according to Bible Prophecy. Jesus warned mankind in Luke 17:28, that He would return to the earth when our society was like the days of Lot 4000 years ago. In that day, like ours, sodomy and homosexuality was prevalent in Sodom and Gomorrah.
Men then as they do today, exchanged the truth of a Holy God for a lie of the devil, and were having open sexual relationships with other men. America and much of the world has accepted and approved of this same lie that has immersed so many into this unnatural sin. The Bible says it is an abomination of God’s family order and will ultimately bring eternal judgment. What is the truth?
Jude recorded it this way: “In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire” (Jude1:7).
The fact that this lie is supported and approved by so many pastors and churches that allegedly preach truth, tells us all just how late it really is. The apostle Paul wrote that God rejects this lifestyle and will judge those who commit it and even those who approve of it.
Romans 1:24-32: “Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones.
In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice.
They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.”
The Lord also said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever” (Genesis 6:3).
If you are personally involved in this lifestyle or approve of it, regardless of what other support you might seemingly have, understand that God says it is sin and that settles it.
“The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
God says, “Whoever is not with me is against me” (Matthew 12:30).
Are you with Him or against Him?
God has provided a way to truth in this area of sin in your life, and it is through the shed blood of His one and only Son, Jesus Christ.
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24).
He alone is your answer and is waiting to welcome you with loving arms, if you are willing by faith to admit your sin and call upon His Name.
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).
“Choose today whom you will serve. But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
