The beginning of a New Year is always a good time to take a look at the relationships you have. This message is about the most important One. It’s getting late, so don’t miss Him this time!…
When I reflect on all the stories of the Bible, the one that has puzzled me the most is the testimony of the only generation of people that would ever live with Jesus upon the earth. There is only one.
So how could so many people who walked and talked with Jesus, and had this amazing history and special relationship with the only true God, completely miss the arrival of their prophesied King—the Messiah?
Remember, John the apostle recorded that these same people had witnessed Jesus do so many special things that if it they were all written down, the whole world could not contain the books that would have to be written (John 21:25). And they still missed Him? That blows my mind!
We know that the Scriptures had recorded many details of the coming Messiah and were well known to the Jewish people. Their trusted religious leaders, the Pharisees and Sadducees had been teaching for hundreds of years about what had been revealed through the Prophets, yet they missed the only King who would ever come to shepherd God’s people—Jesus the Christ.
He had come as a suffering servant to take away the sins of the world did not fit their ideology and they ultimately led Him to be crucified at Calvary.
Now let’s take a look at another generation, the people living today to draw some comparisons and conclusions.
Almost 2000 years ago, Jesus had a conversation with the disciples about His Second Coming. They wanted to know what would be the signs of the coming end of the age. Jesus shared many signs to look for and then told them to “learn a lesson from the fig tree” (Matthew 24:32).
The fig tree is one of the symbols of Israel in the Scriptures and He was telling them to watch for Israel to become a nation again, and then you would know that He would be at the gates of heaven, ready to return. Jesus then said, “I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.”
The fig tree has blossomed, Jesus is at the gates! Two thousand years after the lesson was first taught, mankind is getting ready to take a final exam.
We are the generation of people that would live to see Israel become a nation again. There is only one! God’s unfolding plan and purpose for the Jewish people is a “flashing billboard” and a sure sign that He is getting ready to display His glory to all the nations.
I opened up this message by asking the question…How could so many people, seeing so many signs, completely miss the First Coming? But I am now a living testimony in these last days, where once again, so many people are seeing, yet willfully ignoring the many signs that point us to the soon return of Jesus Christ.
Let me be clear, the Rapture could occur at any moment and I fully believe that. There is no prophetic event that has to happen before Jesus snatches His church from the earth.
And Paul the apostle reminds us…”Dear brothers and sisters: The time that remains is very short. Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away” (Corinthians 7:29, 31).
Time has a way of slipping past us like a thief in the night. As Robert Orbin once said, “Time flies. It’s up to you to be the navigator.” Don’t spend another wasted minute on trivial pursuit. Be about the Father’s business and fulfill His plan for your life!
