Salvation
Before it’s too late and your life is over, please consider what God says is needed for you to be made right with Him, to be totally forgiven of your sins and to become eligible to go to heaven when you die. The Bible tells us that God, the Father, sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth from heaven to become a man, to live a perfect life, and to die on the cross for every person’s sins.
Christ’s death fully paid for all sins. Because Jesus is God, as well as man, His shed blood could pay for our sins. He was perfect and never sinned!
After His death on the cross, Jesus came back to life and appeared to many people before returning to heaven. Jesus alone defeated death and proved that He is the Son of God—God in the flesh—the only Saviour. Because Jesus is alive and has eternal life, He can give it to anyone who believes in Him. One must believe in Jesus as his Savior and that His death paid for our sins. One must ask Jesus to save him from being punished for his sins.
Jesus said, “I am the One who raises the dead and gives them life again. Anyone who believes in Me, even though he dies like anyone else, shall live again. He is given eternal life (heaven) and shall never perish [i.e. go to hell]” (John 11:25-26; The Living Bible).
Here, simply put, is what the Bible says is God’s way for every person to get to heaven:
“But now God has shown us a different way to heaven —not by ‘being good enough’ and trying to keep his laws, but by a new way (though not new, really, for the Scriptures told about it long ago). Now God says he will accept and acquit us—declare us ‘not guilty’—if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins.
“And we all can be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like. Yes, all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious ideal; yet now God declares us ‘not guilty’ of offending him if we trust in Jesus Christ, who in his kindness freely takes away our sins. For God sent Christ Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to end all God’s anger against us. He used Christ’s blood and our faith as the means of saving us from his wrath” (Romans 3:21-25).
This Bible verse shows that we cannot save ourselves by our good works: “Then what can we boast about doing to earn our salvation? Nothing at all! Why? Because our acquittal is not based on our good deeds; it is based on what Christ has done [dying in the cross for our sins!] and our faith in Him. So it is that we are saved [from going to hell] by faith in Christ and not by the good things we do” (Romans 3: 27-28).
God loves you and wants you to go to heaven. No longer do you have to wonder about what God requires of you to know you’re going to heaven when you die. God has spelled it out for you in the Bible. Remember, God says He doesn’t accept good works, religion, or church attendance. You cannot earn heaven! God will give you heaven as a free gift for repenting of your sins and believing in His Son, Jesus Christ.
