The 100% Accurate Infallibility and Accuracy of Scripture
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3:16, KJV).
“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy
came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter 1:20-21).
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth” (John 17:17).
“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever” (Isaiah 40:8).
“For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled” (Matthew 5:18).
“For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe” (1 Thessalonians 2:13).
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35).
“That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us” (Hebrews 6:18).
“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:20).
“The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever” (Psalms 12:6-7).
Do you believe every word of scripture? The truth is that the scriptures are the God-breathed, infallible, inerrant, immutable words of the Living God. Every single word in scripture from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:1 is TRUTH because the One who IS Truth is the author of them.
When we read the Bible, we must always:
(1) read it LITERALLY – that EVERYTHING stated in it is truth. In the passages that are CLEARLY metaphorical in nature (such as Jesus being the bread of life) – it is clear by the context and usage that a metaphor is being used to highlight TRUTH. In this case, that it is the words of God alone that sustain us spiritually. Even in those cases where metaphor is used, truth is contained within such clearly identifiable literary devices.
(2) read it GRAMMATICALLY. This means that words have concrete and literal meanings that are understood by everyone or anyone reading them – i.e., “world” means the world; “eternal” means everlasting etc.
(3) read it DISPENSATIONALLY. This means to read the Bible in its HISTORICAL context realizing that the people addressed were REAL LITERAL people and not representative archetypes, and that the events recounted in scripture were ACTUAL historical events and NOT literary allegories. Scripture must be
read and interpreted differentiating between the different people groups and differing times along the timeline of history, the present, and future events.
(4) read the Bible IN CONTEXT. This means that every verse, every passage needs to be read and understood within the context of the entire passage, book, and testament; that we read the Word as a cohesive whole – the whole counsel of God.
Scripture is at all times 100% accurate when dealing with prophetic events past, present and future.
Although the Bible is not a history book per se, in EVERY INSTANCE when scripture deals with historical events, the people who lived in those times, and in the recording of events in history, the Bible is always 100% accurate and literal in recounting such events. Eventually in time, archeology catches up with scripture and ALWAYS validates the historical accuracy of the Bible.
And finally, although the Bible is not a science book, in EVERY CASE where scripture touches on science as GOD defines science such as in matters of the creation of all matter that comprises creation: the cosmos; the environments of the earth; natural, physical, biological science – the creation of all that is; the physics that uphold the created cosmos and the workings and manifestations of the cosmos, of human genetics – indeed of all matter—the Bible is 100% accurate whether “science so called” or popular culture or the “educational” systems created by man agree with scripture or not.
“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen” (1 Timothy 6:20-21).
So, although the scriptures do not deal directly with these things, in every instance that scripture touches upon any of these areas: science, history, prophecy or in what must be believed for salvation etc., scripture is 100% accurate 100% of the time. This is why the infallibility and inerrancy of scripture is vital to salvation. We do not get to pick and choose what we like in scripture, as if the holy Word of God were a buffet from which sinful man can pick and choose what suits our fancy or appeases our sinful self, while rejecting that which we don’t like or which rubs us the wrong way. Scripture IS the very Word of God.
“The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us,” and by that Word alone comes our eternal salvation.
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:14-17).
