Fervent Prayer
I have a sort of Bee under my Blanket, if you will – something that has been growing in me for some time now. Let’s take a look.
I have heard parents teaching their children Rhymes in Prayer, the sort of… “Rub a dub dub, thanks for the grub!” sort of Prayer. There are others as well, and this is where I find the Problem. A Prayer is supposed to be solemn and thoughtful, stemming from the Recesses of one’s heart. Most Importantly, we are going before the Lord God Almighty, the Creator of absolutely Everything! That includes you and me and our Children!
I remember so well when my Grandsons were born. I got to care for the youngest most recently while my Daughter and her Husband were at work. I looked into his little eyes and asked him if he remembered what God looked like. Did he ever get the chance to see HIM with those little eyes of his. No, I was not trying to be flippant by any stretch of the word. To look at him and know the Lord God had HIS hands on him just weeks ago…or so, made me giddy! That was the time I began to read more in-depth about being Fervent when I would Pray.
According to Webster’s Online Dictionary, Fervent is this: 1) very hot; glowing, the fervent sun. 2) exhibiting or marked by great intensity of feeling; zealous fervent prayers, a fervent proponent, fervent patriotism.
The Word of God says in James 5:16 “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.“
As we can see here, a Fervent Prayer is a Prayer with Great meaning, from the Deep Recesses of our Heart. For Example, we could say, A Person has Cancer and so the Person’s Family and Friends began Praying in great earnest! They gathered together around the bed of the Person and began speaking to the Lord God Almighty to Heal this person… am I not correct? Another example was Jesus Christ.
Luke 22:41-44 “And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.“
That, my Friends, is probably the greatest example of “Fervent Prayer!” So the question now is, does anyone Pray with that level of earnestness anymore? Is that not how we should Pray? In my Heart, I believe that we are standing before the Lord God Almighty and talking with HIM. Are we showing HIM the respect HE deserves…according to who HE is, and HIS Power and Knowledge? Is HE not the Creator of absolutely Everything to include you and me?
Why is it so difficult for you and me to Recognize who the Lord God truly is, and how is it that we think we can be so disrespectful before HIM? I believe we should be sweating bullets of Blood as well with every single Prayer that we Pray. Are we not Praying in Earnest for a desire to be fulfilled by HIM?
If you were God, would you be willing to accept the Prayers that are offered up all the time? Of course you wouldn’t. Because, my Friends, those Prayers are essentially a slap in HIS Face. They are indeed disrespectful, thus the reason I am writing this particular article. We are asking for help from the Father God! HE is a Just and Righteous God. He creates everything by virtue of a Thought. That moment requires Great forethought; in other words, KNOW what you are doing and asking for – most of all, to whom you are speaking!
Does The Father Love us? Of course HE does; you know HE does. All the more Reason to come before HIM in perfect Reverence. Don’t get me wrong; I have been Guilty of this as well, BUT…I am learning not to be that way anymore. When we go Before HIM to ask for Forgiveness of our SIN, we need to include our disrespect for HIM as well…it is Sin! I would be willing to bet there are a great many Prayers that HE will not accept…for this very reason.
It would seem that we Pray for different reasons, with different levels of intensity; would you not agree? Are there any droplets of Blood in your sweat when you thank HIM for a new day? More than likely…No. This is my Point exactly.
Matthew 6:6-8 “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.“
Do I think any of us will sweat Droplets of Blood when we Pray? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean we should Pray with any less severity. In my estimation, how much closer to the Lord God would we be if we Prayed with complete Earnest and from our Hearts…about everything?
John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.“
My Friends, we are not even able to take the next breath of air or have the next Heartbeat…without HIM. In other words, HE gives us Life from one Heartbeat to the next. So when we Pray to give HIM thanks for all of Life, shouldn’t we be as earnest as we know how to be? I would think so, my Friends. Our Blessings from HIM are beyond our ability to comprehend, and this happens with every single second that goes by. Our Lives are in HIS capable Hands…and we need to be so very thankful for that.
Our Salvation was because of HIS Death on a Roman Cross for you and me… What a sacrifice that was! And the biggest thing to know is that HE did that because HE Loves us so very much; that includes absolutely everyone ever born on this Planet!
If you knew that you were going to die 5 minutes from now, how would you be Praying and what would you Pray for? I must say, it would be a very earnest Prayer Indeed… A very “Fervent Prayer!”
I Pray in all earnest that the Lord will Bless each and every one of you, according to HIS Perfect Plan in our Lives.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.“
