Jeremiah 31:3 “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”
Bible Study Tools: “Matthew Henry Commentary on Jeremiah 31”
Yea, I have loved thee, not only with an ancient love, but with an everlasting love, a love that shall never fail, however the comforts of it may for a time be suspended. It is an everlasting love; therefore have I extended or drawn out lovingkindness unto thee also, as well as to thy ancestors, or, with lovingkindness have I drawn thee to myself as thy God, from all the idols to which thou hadst turned aside.
Note, it is the happiness of those who are through grace interested in the love of God that it is an everlasting love (from everlasting in the counsels of it, to everlasting in the continuance and consequences of it), and that nothing can separate them from that love. Those whom God loves with this love he will draw into covenant and communion with himself, by the influences of his Spirit upon their souls; he will draw them with lovingkindness, with the cords of a man and bands of love, than which no attractive can be more powerful. – Source
Like I have stated in previous articles, we do not watch much ‘secular tv shows or movies.’ Therefore, we tend to watch ‘home improvement shows’ since there are not many ‘wholesome’ programs to watch nowadays. We watch shows like Maine Cabin Builders, Home Town, Holmes Makes It Right, and several other DIY shows. The other night, on a recent episode of ‘Home Town’ that had the Mississippi Home Restoration couple, the Napier’s 2-year-old daughter on the show was asked what she thought of the chair that Daddy had handmade. Unexpectedly to me, my heart melted at the sight and sound of this little girl saying, “I – like – that – chair,” in her cute southern belle accent (just like her Momma). It was so innocent and sweet that I just had to rewind that ‘adorable scene’ a few more times.
I guess it has been so long since we have had our little girls around that I was surprised my heart could ‘melt’ for another person’s child, even one on television. Upon reflection, I imagine us being like this from God’s perspective and wonder if this might be a glimpse of how He feels about us? Do we make God’s heart ‘melt’ at times? Does He want to rewind a scene in our life over and over because He loved it so much? Does He repeat something cute or adorable we might have said? Does He ruminate on how precious we are? Scripture tells us He does, above and beyond all this and so much more…

Billboards for Christ: “Everlasting Love”
Putting this all together:
The Lord has told you that He has planted His Word in you for the purpose of growing you In Him. The Lord wants you to bear fruit of good things, and that His Love will make this all possible. The Lord has called you by name (Isaiah 45:4-13), stretched out His hand to you, having been merciful and kind to you because He wants you to be in a loving relationship with Himself. The Lord has prepared a way for you to be in a loving relationship with Himself. Jesus Christ, His own Son, came down to earth to carry your sins away (Rom 5:8). God is always loving you, but the Lord knows that you need to Love Him in return. If you do not walk with Him in Love on this earth, then, by your own actions, you will not be walking with Him in Heaven later (Matt 10:32-33). Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear (Isaiah 59:1).
Thought questions: How have you sensed the Lord God drawing you, pulling you, calling you to Himself? Surely the fact that you are reading this is one way of knowing that you are responding to His call upon your life. Is there an emptiness, an aching need that has never been met? Are you hungering for a True Love that is Forever Faithful? Are you seeking intimacy on the most divine level? Only a reciprocated love with the Lord God Almighty can fill that hole in your heart! Only through the Lord Jesus Christ can anyone receive true and lasting Joy, peace that surpasses all understanding, and unconditional love! “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Rom 15:13). Would you like to receive the Lord’s Love? YES! – Source
Wonderful does not even begin to describe His Love for us! For example, take the ‘fondest, grandest, most amorous’ feeling we might have towards another person here on this earth, and still that would not even compare to the ‘affections’ God has towards us! From His Word we find that His mercies are new every morning; He prepares each day for us to inhabit and enjoy; He neither slumbers nor sleeps as He keeps us in the night watches; His Eye is ever upon us; we are the apple of His Eye; His Righteous Right Hand upholds us; His Hand goes with us wherever we may go; He promises to never leave us nor forsake us; we cannot escape His Love; all our tears are collected in His bottle; all our days are recorded in His book.
Ultimately, Jesus Christ, God’s Son, shed His precious blood to save us. What more could we ever ask of Him?! There is nothing He would not withhold from us in His everlasting love!
Our response should be utter and complete ‘Thankfulness’ each and every day no matter what! Because God is Just, Loving, and Holy we are a most Blessed people, more than we can ever fathom or comprehend! Thank You, Lord God, for every single thing. Thank You for every single day. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for everything. We do not deserve it but Your Love is greater than anything we can comprehend… Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
Even after an eternity in Heaven Thanking and Praising Him, we will still never be able to Thank Him enough for His Indescribable Love towards us and His Awesome Gift of Jesus Christ our Lord!
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord forevermore! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Lord!
1 John 4:9-10 “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.“
Until next time… Maranatha!
