2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 – “Yahweh shall send them a strong delusion, so that they will believe the lie. The result will be that all who have not believed the truth, but have taken their pleasure in wickedness, will be condemned.”
The above scripture is very familiar to many, and myriads of scholars have written countless articles on what the delusion might be, myself included. This strong delusion has been portrayed as alien agenda, science fiction, transhumanism, UFO landings, and a host of other possibilities. But is the strong delusion really the point of this verse? I say, “NOT AT ALL!”
The Truth
The real point of this verse is what, or more accurately, who is The Truth. And that is Yeshua, who says of himself, “I AM the Way, The Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). It is Yeshua who is to be believed – he is The Truth.
Not only is Yeshua The Truth, Truth comes through him (John 1:17) and is in him (Ephesians 4:21). Numerous times in Matthew, Yeshua says: “I tell you the truth…” (Matthew 8:10, 19:23, 19:28, 21:21, 21:31, 26:34). Mark 10:29, 14:18, and 14:30; Luke 18:29 and 23:43; and John 16:7 repeat this phrase. In other verses, John goes one step further wherein Yeshua says: “I tell you the solemn truth…” (John 3:5, 5:19, 6:26, and 6:32).
Yeshua is not the only one who testifies that he tells the truth. Matthew 22:16 and Mark 12:14 report that the Pharisees “sent him some of their disciples and some members of Herod’s party. They said, ‘Rabbi, we know that you tell the truth.’”
The Lie
1 John 2:22 – “Who is The Liar but he who denies that Yeshua is the Messiah? This is the Anti-Messiah.”
John 8:44 – “When Lucifer tells a lie he is speaking in character because he is The Liar who invented the lie.”
Revelation 12:9 – “The great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan.”
One must ask: “If Yeshua is The Truth, then what, or more accurately, who is The Lie?” This is also easily answered: It is the Anti-Messiah who is the Adversary; the Devil; the Great Dragon; the Serpent; Satan, whose name is Lucifer! It is Lucifer who will deceive you and who is not to be believed – he is The Lie.
Unfortunately, scripture clearly states that there will be many “who are always learning but never able to come to full knowledge of the truth” (2 Timothy 3:7), thus believing the lie. Not only will these folks be unable to understand the truth, they will blaspheme or slander it (2 Peter 2:2). They are, simply put, only able to hear the lie because they belong to the liar, not to Elohim (John 8:47, 1 John 4:6).
Conclusions
The real point of 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 is not about the strong delusion. The real point is who will you believe? Will you believe The Truth, Yeshua? or will you believe The Lie, Lucifer?
Final Thought
The prophetic signs are burgeoning and not abating. Time is incredibly short – Yeshua Ha’Mashiach is coming soon – so be of great cheer, keep looking up, and keep maintaining an attitude of gratitude. Be sure you are believing The Truth, not The Lie. Be sure Yeshua is your Redeemer, King, and High Priest, and your sins are forgiven.
