Nigeria was also the nation with the most Christians murdered (3,530) for their faith in 2020. At least 17 Christians were murdered every day in the first half of 2021 alone. As for Christians who survive jihadist raids, millions are displaced.

The Emergency Must Be Ended, Now. It’s time to end closures, restrictions, panic-mongering, forced masking, vaccine mandates, etc. We don’t mean the virus is gone—Omicron is still spreading wildly, and the virus may circulate forever. But they underlined that the nature of NeoCoV “remains enigmatic” (mysterious). According to the preprint’s authors, most of whom come from the notorious Wuhan university, in order to “efficiently” infect a human, the strain needs to mutate a particular way. Currently, NeoCoV spreads only in bats.

Newly arrived insect threatens to decimate Israel’s citrus fruit industry. The sap-sucking Asian citrus psyllid identified in the Emek Hefer region is prompting the Agriculture Ministry to launch a pesticide campaign; the insects likely arrived on smuggled plant material. Due to the size of established populations already found, ministry officials assume the insect has spread to adjacent areas also. The Asian citrus psyllid is found in North and South America, East Asia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and some southern African countries. The citrus greening disease it spreads has destroyed entire orchards in Brazil, California, Florida and Cuba, the ministry said.

Heatwave and drought hit South America’s crops and economy. Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, the three major agricultural producers in South America, are currently experiencing a prolonged period of drought and low water levels in their main rivers. This is severely impacting harvests, as well as river transport of important summer crops, with maize and soybeans the main casualties. Although conditions may yet improve, the grain harvests of 2021 and 2022 could result in losses that will impact the economies of three countries, though experts say the potential magnitude is still difficult to foresee.

Will joint Russian-Syrian air patrols make Israel’s airstrikes harder? Russian patrols appear to be sending a message that Syrians and Russians will work closely to project power. Syrian and Russian military jets patrolled together near Syria’s border with Israel Monday. The report comes as tensions in Ukraine are at a boiling point, with Western powers accusing Russia of plotting an invasion. Russian joint patrols with Syria could become a regular event, Russia has indicated.
