(There is a special message at the end of this article for those who might happen to read this and do not have Jesus in their life and are looking for peace and a way to better understand the present-day insanity and confusion.)
I just watched this film yesterday. Many films stay in my mind for the rest of the day and then fade into relative obscurity. This one really hit me hard the next morning. From the moment I woke up, it was in my mind and on my heart.
I study and research current events as a part of my writing ministry here on Rapture Ready, and sometimes it is all I can do to get started on it. The world has always had its dark side, but this film served as a necessary catalyst to remind me that the darkness is growing like a cancer. God has a purpose in it, to be sure, but it is still disturbing.
God also warned that this increasing darkness would occur, and He is never wrong.
Jesus portended severe consequences to those who would bring harm to children.
“It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones” (Luke 17:2).
I think it is important to point out a few things relevant to watching this film.
The first is that the founders of Angel Studios are associated with the Mormon church. That said, there is/has been a considerable amount of discussion relative to Christian-based films, streaming services, etc., being linked with a non-Christian entity that portrays itself as one.
Bear with me. We will get to the point.
Let me provide these two verses from the Bible that the Mormon church professes to believe but teach something contrary in their “theology”:
“For My own sake, for My own sake, I will do it; For how should My name be profaned? And I will not give My glory to another” (Isaiah 48:11).
“I am the LORD, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have not known Me; That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun That there is no one besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other” (Isaiah 45:5-6).
This article is not a treatise on the teachings of the Mormon church. All of us are responsible to God for our belief, or the lack of it, in the One and Only Savior, Jesus Christ, as He is revealed in the Word of God.
Founded by a human during the 1820s/1830s, an abundant amount of information about this “religion” is available for those who wish to research it.
God the Father made it clear what putting trust in man will result in.
“Sever yourselves from such a man, Whose breath is in his nostrils; For of what account is he?” (Isaiah 2:22).
A cursory study of the teachings of the Mormon church relative to who Jesus Christ actually is, His source of being, man’s ambition to become God, rule over his own universe, and procreate for all of eternity can be discovered with a little research. A suggestion for sourcing this information would be: Fast Facts on False Teachings by Carlson and Decker (Chapter 11 / page 163).
All this is relevant to this discussion, as there may be many who will shy away from Sound of Freedom due to these associations.
This leads me to point number two.
God has made it plain that He is Sovereign over all creation. He has also demonstrated that He will turn evil into good when it suits His purpose.
As a reminder, the Word of God provides examples of this Sovereignty in His use of:
Pharaoh (Exodus), the Assyrian invasion (2 Kings), the Babylonian invasion (2 Kings), the invasion by the Medo/Persians (Ezra), the Grecians (330 BC), the Roman invasion (AD 63), the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans (AD 70), Judas betrayal of Jesus.
These examples of the sovereignty of God make it clear that He can use anyone, no matter what their beliefs or nature, to bring about His will.
His use of evil persons, kingdoms, governments, and countries does not make them good but only useful for His purposes.
Point number three.
It took 5 years to finally get this film out into the general public in the face of what could only be described as “strong Satanic resistance.”
Despite Hollywood and other movie makers’ desire to “make a profit” by distributing garbage that very few want to endure, and the clear signal that “religious” films with a positive message and Christian (real Christian) films seem to produce an amazing return on investment is (I think) driving a wedge between those who absolutely hate Jesus Christ and His Gospel message, and those who may be wakening to both the profitability of positive and Godly films and perhaps (we can only hope), conviction of their sin and their own need for a Savior.
I, initially, would have gone to see this film anyway, as I appreciate Jim Caviezel as a brother, an unabashed Christian, and as a person.
Having said that, this film explores some very sobering material that can be very hard to process internally.
There is no unnecessary emphasis on, or graphic depiction of, sexual deviancy or physical violence, although the actions of Tim Ballard (the rescuer of this little girl) were completely warranted.
These things are present in this true story, to be sure, but the point of the film is presented without any need of that. It is very seriously and professionally done.
Point four.
Despite the best efforts of Satan, his little helpers, and the combined resistance of many unsaved, lost, and even willfully evil humans, this film is exceeding all expectations.
Why is that?
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn” (Isaiah 54:17).
“My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure” (Isaiah 46:10).
Are we, as servants of Christ, not also servants of the Lord? The Word of God is written to every single person who ever has or ever will live and willingly serve Him.
We know from the Word of God that the Truth will set free anyone who will seek it.
Final point.
This film has been under vicious attack by persons who hate Jim Caviezel because he exposed child trafficking and the harvesting of adrenochrome from children by terrorizing them and then harvesting their blood while it contains high levels of this anxiety-generated chemical. Apparently, it has several nefarious uses. It is apparently viewed as a source of reversing the aging process.
I do not claim to fully understand the details, but I do know this. What really matters is that the people that harvest it from children believe it. Thus, the evil grows.
The ad hominem attacks on Jim and on the film itself should tell us all something.
I am reminded of a saying by bomber crews during WWII: “The flak is always the heaviest closest to the target.”
And, as to the viciousness and arrogance of the attacks, a line from Hamlet comes to mind: “The lady doth protest too much, methinks.”
And finally, the loud and ever-present cry of “Conspiracy Theory” is leveled as well. It is the smokescreen of modern-day tactics to attempt to divert attention from the ugly truth. When I hear or read those words, I immediately assign a high probability of truth to the subject being assaulted. Almost always, that word “theory” must be dropped.
Is it really a stretch nowadays to believe the worst kind of evil is entirely likely when people will victimize and abuse children?
Has some sort of limit been imposed on evil by the practitioners of it?
Now to the crux of this article.
Despite all these points I have endeavored to make, or in some respects because of them, I believe you should see this film.
I think we sometimes view the state of the world and the evil growing in it from the perspective of how it affects us personally; and so, for most of us, we see just a small part of it.
Like no other film, Sound of Freedom makes the level of evil perpetrated against children real, and the resulting message is that it can no longer be hidden.
Please, go and support the message it conveys and expand your understanding of the spiritual war we are engaged in.
We can be a part of what wonderous things God is doing already and what He will do with Sound of Freedom. Satan hates it. We should support it.
As is said in and after the film, “God’s children are not for sale.”
The special message I promised you:
For anyone who may read this article and has not trusted in Jesus Christ and therefore has no hope or peace in your life.
You can have hope. You can have the peace that Jesus has promised to all who have made Him their Lord and Savior. The peace that passes understanding.
It requires that you come before God on His terms.
And, what are His terms according to His Word?
- Genuine repentance (turning to God instead of continuing to reject or ignore Him).
- Confession of sins (that you are a sinner and acknowledge that to God).
- That you understand that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
- To acknowledge to God that you are unable to pay that debt.
- Belief that Jesus Christ paid your death sentence for you on the cross.
- To believe that Jesus is the Way, the only Way, that God has established by which humans may be saved from the consequences of their sin and rebellion.
God has made it absolutely clear that there is no one who comes before Him, under His terms, that will be refused.
- No one: no race, no color, no country of origin, regardless of any previous belief system: no one.
- No matter what your past sins have been, God can and WILL forgive you because He says He will.
- Salvation is available to everyone without any exceptions.
If you put all your trust for salvation in Jesus, and Him only, you can follow that prayer up by simply saying, “Thank you, Father God, for hearing my prayer and saving me,” because we can trust Him to keep His Word. He always has. He always will.
“Truly, Truly, I say to you that he who hears My words and believes the One who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned. He has crossed from death to life” (John 5:24).
There are no answers and there is no hope in the world by governments, organizations, politics or politicians. There are only lies and deception. But you can have the Truth and the peace you seek.
The answers are in the Word of God—The Bible. If you ask God, with all your heart, He will hear you.
“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13).
