A chunk of solar stuff hit Earth earlier today. Earth’s geomagnetic field reached the G1 (minor) storm threshold at 3 UTC on July 30 (late last night according to clocks in the Americas). And more is ahead today, especially for those in Europe. Spaceweather forecasters are calling for G1-G2 (minor-moderate) geomagnetic storming up to a G3 (strong) during the rest of today. The G3 storm is expected when the Americas are still in daylight. Will it last into tonight according to American clocks? Maybe.
