Killing Monsters
I never liked horror movies until a few years ago. I sometimes wonder why I watch them now.
Maybe it’s because there are so many real monsters in the world today and it’s the realism that attracts me.
In any case, an epic monster was killed this week by Israel. Ismail Haniyeh, the “political” chief of Hamas, was obliterated by an Israeli bomb. The scene—a bedroom in a northern Tehran suburb—makes the assassination particularly delicious, to be honest. Israel’s daring and innovation stuns Iran once again.
Israel now is down to minutes of “goodwill” or a honeymoon period with the Press. Haniyeh was responsible for innumerable deaths, murders of innocents. The portly terror devil lived in luxury, while his people, the Arabs of Gaza, lived less-than-luxurious lives.
After October 7, Israel promised that the Hamas leadership was compromised of dead men walking. In the past week, the IDF has eliminated several terror masters and, make no mistake, even the mullahs in Tehran are quaking in their loafers. They have promised the almost obligatory strike on Israel I retaliation.
(One aspect of Haniyeh’s assassination is very interesting. I’ve heard two different stories: that an Israeli jet sent a missile right in the demon’s bedroom window. The next day, the story had changed: an informant had planted a bomb in the room months ago and then Israel decided to detonate it this week when Haniyeh was in town for the installation of Iran’s latest president (after Israel killed the previous one several months ago). The whole thing is deeply embarrassing to Iran, of course, but it’s Israel’s way of saying, “We can hit you anywhere we want, anytime we want.”)
One wonders why Haniyeh agreed to attend the festivities this week. In his rich digs in Qatar, he’s somewhat off-limits. And when he went to Turkey (a member of NATO), he was hands-off to assassins. It is the supreme irony that Israel struck in the capital of the terror state. Chutzpah, as they say.
Several months ago, Israel killed Haniyeh’s sister and three of his sons. He coldly referred to them as martyrs, further proof human life meant nothing to him.
Born in Gaza two years before the PLO was formed. He was involved with Hamas from the start, in 1987. He was involved in planning terror attacks, but the international press lauded him as a “moderate.”
To put a finer point on how widespread the evil is in the Middle East, two days before the assassination, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia’ al-Sudani. The greenlight was given to Iraqi militias to attack American bases in Iraq, should Israel attack Hezbollah in Lebanon. This sort of collusion shows that it’s not only the main characters being discussed in the media; Iraq is also a bad actor and very hostile to Israel.
It is fully expected that Iran will hit Israel in some way very soon. One report said that it could include 1,500 missiles and rockets and 1,000 drones. That is considerably more than the April attack.
What I want to say is what I often say: stop with the anxiety over whether Israel will be destroyed. That’s what everyone is talking about. Hand-wringing. Of course none of us want to see Israel attacked or anyone hurt or killed. But how many times do we have to see God’s miracles as He turns back His People’s enemies?
I’m not saying we’re not in for dark days. We probably are. The world is extremely unstable.
But the Lord of History is in total control. Watch and see.
