Life Requires a Capable Captain :: by Don Twobears

How different things are now, as compared to yesteryear! I believe in some cases, a reader may be reading this article and have absolutely no idea of what I am talking about. I am not talking about, just the differences of, let’s say today and the 1960s, although I must admit those days of old felt better than today.

I can also admit, that in those days of old, people seemed to feel more settled and more at ease, if you will. Maybe one could say that back then, there didn’t seem to be so much drama taking place on a daily basis.

One could also say, people had common expectations of each other. They could look back and see where we had been, say a decade before, even three decades earlier. I don’t feel there is the same outlook on things of today; people are more self-conscious today, more introspective, if you will.

How odd is it, that the Word of God speaks of these exact situations in 2 Timothy chapter 3, of how people will be in these the last days. It definitely shows there is a definite dividing line, not only of social norms, but those we find between Christians and non-Christians.

I know I have written about that big black line. I have also written about those who are walking the grand highway that is wide and full; walking like zombies, and not on the narrow path that is seldom found or used which leads to the narrow gate. I have also spent time looking at that small word “few” that seems to stand out so prominently.

The 1960s did indeed have many conflicts of interest; the Vietnam War for one and then the usual issues with the politicians, etc. There was indeed controversy and discord. I am sure you will agree that back then was nothing like things are today. I am also sure that everyone can see that today, the dividing lines among people are more violent, a powder keg if you will. Sort of like a can of gasoline sitting too close to the fire. All one would need is one errant ember to start a catastrophe. People are more on edge, there are no safe havens anywhere.

People are worried about the financial outlook of our nation, their worried about religious factions that seem to be running rampant across the world. People are also mired in verbiage that tells us absolutely nothing, when everyone is working so hard to be politically correct, using just the right language and in the end it does nothing but produce fear in everyone. The situation seems to have hit the proverbial nerve in everyone’s teeth, setting them on an extreme edge. Volatile would be a good word to use.

If a person is willing to stop and think, I mean to really Think about things today, that person may be able to see what is causing all this trouble. It cannot be left to say, it is a loss of a moral compass, I believe it goes much deeper than that and the Bible spells it all out for us. People have walked away from God!

For the Bible student, it is plain to see, as in 2 Timothy chapter 3. Simply because it is a finite description of how people are, how they are acting and it shows the root cause of it all. SIN! I know, I have written a lot about our sins and it is never something that anyone wants to look at or think about.

Still as yet, it is the beginning of all our problems today. One must also remember how subtly it all began, as if it was a single, tiny, ripple in the pond and by today it is a disastrous Tsunami! It is literally flooding the entire globe. Everyone is looking for a way off this merry-go-round that is way too fast and out of control. They may have the appearance of being in control and doing well, yet they are scared to death of …?

The run for the White House is a smorgasbord of mayhem and is downright disgusting to say the least. Wall Street is on pins and needles, waiting for the floor to fall through and they don’t understand why it hasn’t already. Illegal immigration into the USA is making us the laughing stock of the world; we have lost our respect all around the world.

There are the “Haves” and the “Have Not’s” and those that have nothing want everything handed to them because they “deserve it” for one reason or another. It no longer matters who works and who doesn’t and to some degree, it seems more profitable not to work. As I have stated before, the world lives by the axiom, “It’s all about ME.” And so now everyone is wondering how this ship is staying afloat.

Matthew 8:23-26 – “And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.”

Most people would read or hear this Bible story and say, “How nice!” And they would miss the entire reason for this story all together. Think of the wind and waves as a picture of the uproar in our lives; we are suddenly overwhelmed! Jesus Christ comes along and calms everything. How simple, right?

Do you really think that Jesus was sound asleep? Come on now, we are talking about God here, Jesus Christ IS one of the Personages of God, right? We must remember that God knows everything, from before HE ever created the universe! That being the case, do you think that Jesus was not aware of everything going on around HIM? Or as the story says, was HE waiting to see who would be faithful? How about this?:

Matthew 11:28-30 – “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Do you believe, that this Scripture is applicable to all the problems in our lives? Jesus Christ waits for you and me to come before HIM and lay all our problems at HIS fee.! The problem right now is that, only the born-again believer knows this to be true! And even more is that, we place all our “faith” in HIM because HE IS capable. With Jesus Christ we don’t have any problems. We fear nothing. HE is our anchor…our Rock…and HE is always with us.

Is it not obvious that Jesus Christ promised to never leave us or forsake us and that HE always does exactly what HE says HE will do? So what does that mean? It means we don’t have a care in the world. It means, all we need to do is to keep our eyes on HIM

He will calm our wind and our wave—we belong to HIM. So, if we have Jesus Christ to keep us safe, what does the rest of the world have? NOT a single thing. There is not so much as a safety net for them; they will die or ride out the storm alone. How sad is that?

Evidently, the rest of the world looks at you and me as literal nut jobs. They fail to understand and are not willing to accept the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Thus, they will endure the storm right up until the end. The question is, then what? What do they have to look forward to? It will NOT be heaven!

Who will calm their storm and save their lives in eternity! Who will calm YOUR storms and save YOU in eternity? Death as a human being comes for everyone; there are no exceptions.  You live this life and one day you die. What do you think this life is for?

John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Speculation Is Not for the Believer! :: by Don Twobears

How strange is it? This has been a phrase I have used many times, as we look through the Holy Word of God, endeavoring to see this world through the lens of God Almighty. We look around ourselves today and we see anarchy and chaos, yet how many remember the Word of God told us about this time and how the people of this world would be.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”

Are we able to see ourselves?! The leftist media tells us many things and yet it never once tells the truth, maybe a fraction of the truth. And then they lead us down a path filled with their own ideas, skewed by their own desires, of what they want. We must understand, that there is a thick black line, that divides the truth from lies.

So I must ask the question: “Why are they so adamant at serving up lies?” My answer is always in the Holy Word of God, as you are able to read in the passage of Scripture above. Do you think they are being named in this Scripture? I adamantly know they are!

I must also ask, why is it that most want to believe what this leftist media is spewing? Obviously, their information is telling everyone that what they think is the right thing. Their views play right into what the Word of God says they are and what it appears to be what everyone wants to hear and believe.

Not surprisingly, individuals of power in this country and others, are innately aware of their own wants, which come at the expense of their citizens. They want all the power and the money associated with that power. The citizens have been dumbed-downed to the point that they think, these individuals in power will share with them and then everyone will be happy.

Has it ever occurred to them that the more power individuals have, the less they are willing to share anything? The same goes with money, the more one acquires, the more they wish to obtain. It is never enough! Obviously, it becomes a vicious cycle without end. Stop for a moment and think long and hard about this.

The Left, thinks everyone should be the same and make what everyone else is making, that every individual should receive, what everyone else gets (think Socialism, maybe Communism!). Again, it must be noted, that those in power want it all.

Oops…what happened to sharing? And Capitalism says one gets what they deserve by hard work! Oops. There’s that nasty word again … work! Most want whatever they can get without using that nasty word “work” or ascribing to its use in their lives. In this example, think of welfare. Everyone believes they are “deserving” by virtue of being born. And yet, not everyone was born equal. Think about that one again. Again this is from the lips of the leftist media.

Now the Right wants to have all the power, the prestige and thus have according to what they believe they deserve, for being in power. This will undoubtedly will include a huge salary, again everyone is not created equal, the “Haves” and the “Have-nots.”

Either way, those in power have it all or at least close to it—which is what they all wanted in the first place. Again the citizen must work hard, every day and in every way, so that the taxes will be sufficient to be used by those in power. Those in power could care less where the money comes from, as long as they have their “fair” share.

So now the question is this: What is the difference between the Right side or the Left side of politics? Actually nothing! No difference, other than what they have chosen to tell you, to get to the same end result. Do you see the lies upon more lies? Do you see the results of all the manipulation of ideas, of the money?

As an example; take a look at welfare…the coffers are always full, no mention of running out. Take a look at Social Security (money paid into) and how quickly they say it will run out of money. How is it, that every citizen who pays into FICA or Social Security all the years they work for a nest-egg for when they retire is now running out of money? Do you get the feeling that someone has sticky fingers, and loves manipulating where these funds go?

Have you ever wondered why the price of food keeps going up and up? What does the Word of God say about this trend?!

Revelation 6:5-6 “And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.”

That my friends, is the measure afforded to a soldier. This is in Revelation and obviously the average citizen will have little in terms of food one day. And yet those in power will live sumptuously! Oops… the masses were lied to again by those in power, right?

Do you see that everyone is going to be scraping about for as much food as they can acquire? And what about those with families to feed? What about those that have been getting the most in life; entertainers, athletes and the like. And where will all the food be coming from, who will be growing it and did you notice there is no mention of meat?

So as I write this article, my mind is looking how everything and everyone will be, in those coming times. One must remember how things used to be and then how things are now, or at least how they will soon become!

Matthew 24:21 – “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was NOT since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.”

My friends, the people of the world are going about their business every day, as if nothing bad is on the horizon. As we read the Word of God, do you get the feeling that far too many are being deceived? How about reading the first passage of the Scripture  once again (2 Timothy 3:1-5) and then looking at the situation we are in today and how you think things will be in the future.

Can you see that prophecy is being fulfilled right before our eyes?

God Almighty chose to tell us what is going to happen, before HE does anything. And again I am going to mention, the Holy Word of God is 4500 years old…or even better than that. So then, If the Lord God Almighty is willing to tell us what HE is going to do in the future, why are so few willing to read it and take it to heart?

If many of the prophecies in the Old Testament have already come true, what makes you think all the prophecies of the future will NOT come true? And then everyone wants the born-again believers to shut-up or to at least dumb-down what they are expounding?

Do the Words like, “God’s delusion” and “Be ye not deceived” come to mind in these days? Are you able to see these words in the future?

Everything is one way or the other…obviously there is NO Grey Area, NO fence-sitting!

If you are sitting in one spot, like in the front room, you’re not sitting out by the street, right? It’s one way or the other. Life is rife with these examples and one must wonder why no one is learning from it.

The Holy Word of God is exactly the same way, one way or the other. Salvation through the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ, is exactly the same way … One is either saved by Jesus Christ or  not! It’s that simple!

If what has taken place in the past is not able to be played again in the present, then one must make the best of every moment right now. There are NO do-overs.

If we are willing to gamble today and buy insurance against what COULD happen tomorrow, then why will so few read the Word of God and believe its prophecies? And they call born-again believers stupid, or haters. The greatest insurance one may obtain, is through the blood of Jesus Christ, from HIS Cross of Calvary which means you will have a future … in eternity!
