Life Ain’t What You Think It Is! :: by Don Twobears

How unusual is it, when the world has no idea the reason for life and death on earth? Many times I have been asked about my thoughts concerning these two events. The world loves to come along and make lists, create comparative scales according to theoretical numbers. Talking about the years and numbers of people that died during those years.

And then we come to wonder, why everyone is so detached, if not horrified, maybe even bewildered, when such events come into their world. And yet what is so surprising, the two are as inevitable in life, as you taking your next breath of air.

It is most obvious that the majority of people find that dying is wrong, as if they could stop it by their continual pontificating to the opposite. The rumoring that there is nothing taking place after death, ought to pacify the masses that choose not to believe in the Word of God.

For such folks it must be better to believe nothing happens after death, thus they will be able to do whatever they wish while alive. In essence, “No After-Life, No Responsibility” to any God, for any reason. Which means that committing sin, is a choice that bears no condemnation. Thus, “If it feels good…do it!”

I would like to point out, that the Word of God says very little about “death” but says everything about life and then life in eternity. Thus, death, like birth are inevitable. It is obvious, the world knows of one birth of significance, that of Jesus Christ. How odd is it, that the death of Jesus Christ on a Roman cross, is just as significant, though out the world today.

For the majority, Easter and Christmas are simply holidays to enjoy as a day off from work. If they are indeed such, then why have they prospered since those days actually took place? Why would so many articles be written like,“Exodus ‘s Moral Challenge for Jews” about the Jews Exodus from Egypt? (Consider the discussions about the movie, Exodus.)

It is obvious, to every eye and mind, that there is something else going on here, with these events. They are the fulcrum of what the Word of God is all about, Jesus Christ, salvation and His chosen people. We, as born-again Christians know this all too well and are so thankful thee events did indeed occur—as written in the Bible—so we choose to follow and remember them.

The “world” on the other hand, chooses to denigrate these events as fiction. What is worse, they wonder how and why they occur to everyone, at some point in time. That my friends is an “oxymoron” in every respect! You have no choice in your birth, nor your death and yet you want to call the Word of God—the Bible, fantasy? And how many are willing to call you an imbecile if you believe the Word of God? The majority, that’s who.

1 Corinthians 1:18-25: “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”

I cannot begin to tell you how many people have gotten angry at me, how many have called me blasphemous, when what I preach about eternity and try and teach comes straight from the Word of God. I believe the majority have confused two things here: One, they choose to believe, “What they have been told” rather than read the Bible and rightly divide the Word of God.

Second, whatever I have said goes against how they wish to perform their worship services. The rest will fall into the mix according to their chosen faith. What they can’t imagine is that God has a totally different thing for them to learn. Which is in turn, the reason for them not reading the Word of God. It simply does not fit in with their particular choices.

John 3:19-21: “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”

There is your answer, straight from Gods lips to YOUR ears. That is the exact answer to the problems; Man wants this and God EXPECTS…a totally different thing. So then, the question is, whom do you think will win out?

All right, so let’s look at this way. You were born, thus you’re reading this article and yet you did not choose to be born, God chose this for you. At the same time, you must one day die. Again, this is not something you can choose, it will happen, Gods decision for you.

Let’s look a little closer here. The only thing left is life, right? It is during this life that you choose to follow Jesus Christ or Satan. That my friends are the only “free will” choice, there is for any of us.

Your thoughts…followed by your actions are designed according to your choice of whom you wish to follow. If you choose to follow Jesus Christ, then you will be given godly wisdom and discernment (understanding) according to the Bible—Gods Holy Word.

In other words, your choice to follow Jesus Christ will be according to the rules set down by God and written in His the Bible. You do this because, you believe God’s Word and it has been evidenced in your life and that is how your life will be guided.

Your thoughts and your actions will be according to what you know is truth, what you know works best for you, because God is faithful and the Holy Spirit resides in you. You know there is life after your earthly life and you have chosen to live that eternal life with Jesus Christ.

Everything you do in this life will be to honor and glorify Jesus Christ, whom you know is God.

For the lost, it is the opposite. Being lost, you choose everything for you, your life is a life of ME and what I want first and always. You want to live your life according to the rules, or the lack thereof, for whatever brings you pleasure at the moment. You do not care about your birth or your death, because they are indeed inevitable. It is truly a life of “It’s all about ME!”

Nothing else, nor anyone else matters to you in any way, shape or manner…you want what you want and that is the end of it. In other words, “Your Choice, your thoughts…are then followed by your actions.” They are designed to be according to “ME” rather than the glory of Jesus Christ, who is GOD.

Having said all of this; if there is NO GOD…in your life…then there will be NO GOD in your eternity. Everything in your life has been your own decision and you chose to live that life without God, your eternity will be without God as well…What is strange…YOU chose this! The same way, the born-again Christian choses his or her future. One simple decision and your life follows according to that decision.

May the Lord God Almighty be praised continuously. Amen.

1) One decision…make it work for you!

2) The Exodus of the Jews (Gods chosen people) from Egypt

3) Christmas, the physical birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

4) Easter, the death and burial of Our risen Lord!

5) Life is short. Don’t mess it all up.

6) Next, are the “End of Days.” (Our lives on earth right now!)

7) The Rapture of the church of Jesus Christ and the Tribulation.

8) Where do YOU stand in all of this?

Is Perspective or Perception All We Have? :: by Don Twobears

“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (2 Peter 3:8).

Not everyone who reads this passage of Scripture, really understands it because it has to do with the perception of time (for most of us). Many will make note of the 1000-year-millennial reign of Jesus Christ (after the Tribulation.)

Most do not look into the future any further than tomorrow and at the same time, the past—was just yesterday. I would have to say, that is a very focused viewpoint, wouldn’t you? And yet, we “think” we understand time. Have you ever wondered why time is always in the 12 hour or the 24 hour period?

If you are talking about 7:30 in the evening, it is either 7:30 PM or 1930 Hrs, right? Like I stated, seldom greater than 24 hours ahead or the past was just yesterday. Having said that, 1000 years is very difficult for you or me to clearly have a handle on.

Let me use my parents to try and clear this up some. My dad was born in 1916 and He lived to be 69 years old, therefore it was in 1985, that he passed away. My Mom was born in 1920 and she was 74 years old when she passed away, so that was in 1994. So how much do you remember of the period of time from 1916 to 1920?

I do not mean, how much knowledge have you obtained about that time period, I mean actually remember from that time. I could safely say, very few might remember. Now this means neither my mom or dad never came close to being 100 years old and 100 years is 1/10th of a millennium. So in a phrase, 100 years is small peanuts compared to a millennium. We must use written text to know what all was going on in 1014 AD, right?

Now, let’s go back to the verse above, about a thousand years as one day to God and then let’s combine that with the knowledge that we have about our time here on earth. We must keep the idea, that our time here on earth is Linear and yet, with God there is no time constraint. If we use the 70 years of time according to Daniel’s 70 weeks of years, all of a sudden we see a truly big difference in the use of time. And again, according to Daniel’s 70 weeks of years, a week could be 490 years in actual length.

And then we would need to look at the “Shemitah cycle” according to the Jews. Where six weeks of planting and harvesting and then a rest on the 7th week. Yet our Georgian calendar uses four weeks at a time, to be a month. Oops…something is amiss, because it does not work out just right. So we must use other means…correct?

Not really. I know some will not like that I am disregarding the above. A Shemitah cycle is difficult for most to deal with, not that their stupid, it’s just tough. That is seven years in total, when most are doing pretty well to simply remember what they did at the beginning of this week.

A millennium is far too difficult to assess. I like to keep things a little more close to home, 6 days for work and whatever, but the 7th day is the Sabbath and it is to be kept Holy unto the Lord. The Lord is not slack in giving us information on how we live with our time.

James 4:13-15: “Go to now, ye that say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.”

Here’s the problem in a nutshell. We can’’ truly see beyond tomorrow and we seldom ever see past yesterday. We do indeed remember certain periods of time from our past. Why ? We were given finite minds and each persons’ capacity is different from another. Let me tickle your mind a little:

What if one day in the millennial reign of Jesus Christ, felt like it had been a thousand years? That would mean, the 1000 years would feel like 1,000,000 years. And yet, would it truly matter to you or me how long it is? (We still have an eternity with Jesus Christ to look forward to.) How does that one day feel to you now? “Perception” is difficult, to say the least.

Here is another perspective to look at. How long does one minute feel like when you’re in hell? There is no day or night, there is no stopping the pain and suffering and the torment…worst of all…There is NO HOPE of any kind. And that will last for eternity. Now THAT is a scary prospect to consider.

I am not saying anything you don’t already know, deep inside your heart. Be stubborn and angry all you want, it won’t change a single thing, because you don’t control anything, except where you ultimately end up. So how long is a millennium? I would have to guess that depends on where you are at and with whom.

In many ways I have not left South East Asia where I once spent time. I live one day at a time. I don’t dwell on the past, because I can’t change that and I am not worried about the future because I belong to Jesus Christ. All I am concerned about is the right here and the right now. If I am doing as the Lord has asked me to do in His Word, I am good, I am content and I am filled with happiness.

I am not worrying or wringing my hands about the Rapture or the Tribulation, whether it comes tomorrow or not. I am content right where I am and I am with my Lord and Savior with every thought, every intent of my heart and every single step I take. Right now is all we have, so the question is this:

If you died right now, where would you be in the next second? In that I am still alive and a simple human, I hope and pray that my seconds with my Lord and Savior are and will be exactly what the Lord has told me they will be. Unimaginable wonder!

Remember what your parents taught you. If you are going somewhere, it is always one step after the other, no more and no less. Walk each and every step with Jesus Christ, trust me, in the end it will have been the best ever.

We will continue this line of thought in my next article…if that is according to the perfect will of God our Father.
