Life Is Such a Slippery Slope! :: by Don Twobears

All right my friends, we have been talking about many things lately, mostly because of the proximity of the Rapture of the church of Jesus Christ. I have always had a need to be as scriptural as possible, yet never leaving a stone UN-turned.

The Word of God spells out every single action possible for you and me as humans. What is so unusual, is that the Word of God is actually very simple and concise, yet to understand the Word of God requires a heart needful of nourishment.

Have you ever noticed, how fast time passes in your life? One day you are 6 or 7 years old and playing outside and then in the next breath you are now 50 plus years old and wondering what happened? Where did all that time go? Once you were innocent and carefree, and next you are saddled with children, a big mortgage and unending bills.

Consequently, we all look back to our childhood days and relish what once was. Now you are required to work, to make the best income possible, despite the never ending harassment and judgmental opinions of bosses. Suddenly, life is much more turbulent and heavy; it is filled with pitfalls of every kind, people trying to work things out for themselves—while leaving you to tackle the leftovers.

You then begin to look forward to retiring, Social Security, 401k plans that are almost non-existent or worthless at best. But that’s all right with you, because you are bruised and tired, your will for moving onward and upward is all but gone. So now your outlook is one of refreshment and relaxation, of UN-winding and leisure…for…how many years? Oops…something else has popped up here!

It would seem all the years prior to today, have simply flown by, right? So then, how many years will you see in retirement and then retirement to your death? Wow…where did that one come from? It would seem that life is always sneaking up on you, moving faster than you would like and this older age thing is a prime example, if there ever was one.

Let’s not get too sure of ourselves here. When I was in my late 20s and 30s I resembled Tony Orlando, the singer. Now days, as I approach my 64thbirthday, those that I knew back then, look at me and it’s like, “Wow…what happened to you?” I turn and look at them and reply, “Oh yeah…well!”

None of those folks are what they were back then either. The years creep up on everyone and that creep is constant and never ending until the day you die. I must guess far too many have no idea that 24 hours a day is not very long and then coupled together, they become months and years. They are quick in life and suddenly that burly chest is weighing heavily around your waist, your and you couldn’t see 50 yards away if they paid you for it. Welcome to the new and improved life!

Let’s look at this way, if you are in your 60s and you have always lived a simple life, simple days and simple vacations from a simple job. Nothing is wrong with that, you don’t have to worry. Now one day you purchase a Powerball ticket and you end up winning 450 million dollars. You arrive at the Powerball center to receive your lump-sum check. Champagne is flowing like water and everyone is standing all around you with really big smiles.

There are many pats on the back, many well wishers and everyone is so happy, but most of all, you and your wife are ecstatic. No more worries of any kind, no more pinching pennies for food and medication or hospital stays. New cars and a bigger house sparkle in your mind, chic clothing and shoes, maybe even a yacht of sorts. Helping your family and friends out, raising their livelihoods along with you and you will still have plenty left over.

Right in the midst of all the fanfare and partying, you feel a sharp pain in the center of your chest, an elephant just sat down in the middle of your chest. Your breathing becomes difficult and your head begins to swim, you hit the floor and are unconscious as you take your last breath…you’re dead.

Suddenly, you’re standing there…someplace…staring into the most beautiful eyes you could ever imagine and as they stare back, your life flashes through your mind, right up to that very last moment. Nothing is spoken, yet every single detail of your life is laid out for all to see, good, bad and indifferent. There is a nagging thought creeping through your mind, because everyone is looking at you, seeing your life, knowing your every thought in life.

An angel opens the Book of Life and looks for your name, He doesn’t find it and shakes his head so slowly. Then there is this falling sensation, as you enter into the worst nightmare you could ever conceive in your mind, perfect darkness, no light whatsoever. And you feel the ultimate of fear, you know where you are and the agony and torture begins; first in your mind and then your body. The one thing that is missing here is…HOPE!

There is one single thought in your head, you know, you had an entire life on earth to accept the gift of salvation, through the blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross. You had always thought to yourself, you would have enough time to make that change, little did you see how fast your life was going.

Zero to whatever age you were when you died was all too quick and you never made that one single decision concerning your eternal life…Now it has been made for you, because of inaction. You know, there is no backing up and doing it the right way, there is no escape, there is no HOPE of any kind…for eternity!

James 4:14: “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

Mark 8:36-37: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

Matthew 16:25-27: “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.”

Mark 9:46: “Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”

Revelation 14:11: “And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”

So here, we look at what the Scriptures say about a man or a woman, in this life today and the Bible tells us what will be tomorrow. Please notice the Scripture passages above again, however many times is required by you to understand what is being said here. This is the Word of God, written to you and me, to teach us of what IS to come.

You better know where you stand with Jesus Christ! You either have your sin covered by the blood of Jesus Christ…or you don’t. It’s that simple and your final destination in eternity is just as simple and it is according to whether you accept salvation through Jesus Christ or not.

My ancestors thought mirrors were a deception, they indeed are a deception; they show only the skin and not what is in the heart. Friends, there is NOreflection of the pain and misery in one’s life, nor the happiness and joy. Life is tough, life is unpredictable, a slippery slide if there ever was one. Don’t be ignorant of the Word of God.

God the Father is perfect and JUST in every way, always has been, is today and will be into eternity. If you choose to ignore Jesus Christ and HIS salvation, you will die over and over again for all eternity. Just because it is too horrifying for you to consider does not make it false. That thought is deception by Satan and his ilk; He is the Father of Lies. Do NOT listen to him!

Ultimately…it is YOUR decision to make and the Lord God Almighty has done everything possible to keep you from hell fire. HE does not want you to go there. Again, it is your decision, but once you die, its permanent. So…your date with…death…is when?

Are You Ready? :: by Don Twobears

“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh” (Matthew 24:44).

Let’s take a moment here and consider this passage of Scripture: “Such an hour.” The Lord is using our time references here, an hour in our day. Again we must look for those little words that seem to say so very much, like the word “in.” “For IN such an hour,” meaning that the time reference is smaller than an hour of our time. And then the Lord drops the proverbial bomb:

“As ye think NOT.” There it is…another small three letter word that speaks volumes to each one of us, proving that we must pay attention to every single word spoken by the Lord God Almighty.

We seem to be a people who are in too big a rush to get things done and when it come to passages of Scripture like the above, we run past all the really good stuff that we need to know. “For in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

There is some prophecy here in the little words, or haven’t you noticed? Something like David and Goliath, where the small (though protected of the Lord) defeats the huge adversary.

Reading this passage of Scripture, gives me the idea that the Lord will allow the people of the world to think “peace and harmony” are so close. The world will be looking at earthly prosperity abounding, “Oh boy…more stuff!” Personal incomes will surge and people will look to being able to acquire more and more, rendering themselves happier and happier (or so they think). Life will seem more stable, more pampered, when the entire time those people don’t realize…we are not here for this purpose at all.

There will be a time when medicines will be more and effective than in past times. No one will see the old time diseases will surge because everyone will think those diseases are for someone else other than they. Or maybe you have forgotten AIDS, once a disease that was fatal and usually the malady of the homosexual.

Or have we forgotten tuberculosis, dengue fever, measles and the like. Oh that’s right, we now use these new names, like the “chikungunya” virus, but these illnesses are for those that are lower on the totem pole, right? We…as in ME…do not get those diseases. My blood is better than that!

So there you are, living the high life, surrounded by all your stuff! Suddenly there is the sound of a trumpet and a blinding light, and suddenly a few million people around the world are gone. Poof! Now the “financial status-quo” fails, your money is worthless. People come and rob you of all your stuff, hurt you and your family and why? No one knows…for sure.

Yet, there is speculation by many, that the Rapture just occurred. And guess what? You are still here, on earth, with your stuff, whilst you were so prosperous and gifted. And now it becomes obvious to you, you are in a world of hurt and there’s no way out, well…except for death that is.

“For IN such an hour, as ye think NOT…the Son of Man [Jesus Christ] cometh!”

There is one more word that needs to be looked at carefully. Look at the Scripture above and see the word “think.” Now what does that mean? It means that you must take a look at your thoughts, to stop and wonder, IF you know what all is going on. Don’t you just hate that little word “IF?”

IF I had known, IF I knew for sure, IF I had all the right information, IF, IF, IF. To “think” then I would know for sure. Apparently, you didn’t think at all, otherwise you wouldn’t still be here on earth. Right?

You did NOT think, when you voted, you did NOT think as you sat in church and heard (hopefully) the Word of God. You did NOT think to read your Bible, otherwise you would have KNOWN what was to come and you would have been ready.

The Word of God uses the word “prudent” as in a prudent man. This is a man who takes into account what HE KNOWS. A man who THINKS, who makes the necessary plans according to certain truths. Are you such a man or woman?

It is abundantly obvious the truth of God’s Holy Word—the Bible, tells you and me how we got here and why we are here, and what we should be doing. Then the Word of God goes on and tells us of the future, that there is indeed a “life after death.” It gives us every reason and answer to every question we could ever think of…the point being, you must read it.

Let me ask you some questions here. Are you able to see the future? Do you KNOW what all is going to take place, very, very, soon? Are you able to sit and think about everything taking place today, all around you in the world, then know what will happen? Do you know why the world is so wicked and full of hate and anger?

Do you know why you deal with so many problems and trials? Do you ever wonder if there is any where a place that has some modicum of peace and harmony? No? Then maybe you need the Word of God!

I know why I experience trials and tribulations. The Lord God wants to make me a better person, not for just you, but more importantly…for HIM! I am in HIS capable hands every moment of every hour of every day. SO…if I die, no big deal. My Lord is right there to carry me home to heaven and that my friends, is more than enough for me. The question then becomes, “Do you feel the exact same way?”

IF (there’s that word again!) you do not feel that way, there must be a reason, right? What are you doing about that question? Are you seeking the answer to it or are you just lollygagging along with the status-quo of everyday life? My friends, you better wake-up and get moving and find the answer to the question, otherwise you will remain right here on earth.

The Lord God Almighty has laid it on my heart to write to you, to tell you the truth according to HIS Holy Word—the Bible. I am NOT going to be sorry for making you uncomfortable, for  feeling offended by what I am saying here. I will NOT back-up and say anything that is NOT the truth!

I have written articles that remind us of the old days, when there were tent revivals and the Word of God was expounded with fire and brimstone, and I am sure some will remember those days. I remember I was just a kid and those preachers scared the living bejabbers out of me. I am sure they scared many people and thankfully so—many were saved to Jesus Christ. I must surmise, I am sort of like they were. I will tell the Word of God the way it needs to be told, simply, because I must be louder than the commotion all around us, every day!

I know there are some people to whom I can simply say, “That’s wrong!” They will look at me and say “I am so sorry.” Still there are others that are listening to themselves talk and you have to yell…”HEY” before they are willing to listen. And still as yet, there are some you must use a baseball bat across the head…just to get their attention.

My friends, it is worse today than that, the world is roaring in its depravity. The wickedness of this world is beyond anything I have ever experienced before in all my life. Go read about Noah and the Flood in Genesis or about Sodom and Gomorrah. Look at how wicked the people were back then. Notice how the Lord God dealt with them.

Do you think for one moment that the Lord God will not deal with this world in a like manner? The depravity is beyond compare…the Tribulation will be the answer to it!

Let’s be prudent for a moment here. Let’s think on these things for just a moment and you tell me. In Noah and the Flood, mankind was so wicked, God chose to Flood the world and destroy all of mankind, except for Noah and His family. In Sodom and Gomorrah mankind was again so wicked and depraved, God burned them up and the sulfur compounds that can still be found there today.

Having stated just those two circumstances, what do you think will happen after the Rapture takes place? The world is worse today, than in the previous two examples. This time, everything available to God will be used against this wicked mankind and NO ONE will escape, because everyone is responsible for all this wickedness and depravity. Is any of this getting across to you? This is WAY SERIOUS.

Revelation 3:20-22: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.”

My friends, please…make it a point to read this over and over again, until it sinks deep in your heart! You still have a choice that you can make, but you better be quick about it, because time is so very, very, short!
