Fort BelvoirPublished on: September 19, 2016January 24, 2017 by RR2 Click any photo to enlarge. Fort Belvoir was built by the Crusaders around 1200 AD. Where can you get a roof, these days, that will hold up for 800 years? Here is a shot of me on guard duty with a fellow tourist. This is a grinding bowl made out of the basalt rock common to the area. A picture from the fort that overlooks the Jordan Valley and meandering Jordan River, 1800 feet below. To the north you can just see the southern portion of the Sea of Galilee. Mount Tabor is barely visible in the hazy distance. <<< Return to Holy Land Tour
