Gaza Boiling Again

Ever since Samson wrangled with the Philistines, Gaza has been a hotbed of death and mayhem. Would that there would be peace for all the people in that region, but so long as Hamas and the PLO are in charge, misery will follow.

Modern Gaza has been a thorn in the side of not only Israel, but Egypt as well. The area with the sea as its border on the west has been used as a training ground for terrorism launched against Israel.

When the “Palestinians” were being invented as a propaganda tool against Israel, in the 1960s, mass immigration from Arab countries was key. By 1951, after the War of Independence, Gaza had only around 80,000 “natives” but today there are more than a million!

In the book Gideon’s Spies, we learn how the resources flow today:

“The money comes from Iran. It is laundered through the central banks from Damascus to Athens. From there it is electronically transferred to an account in Cairo. Then it is couriered to Gaza City for distribution by the Jihad Committee.”

On Monday of this week, the Israelis arrested a senior official with Islamic Jihad, Bassam al-Sa’adi. According to a report with the JNS:

“Khaled al-Batsh, head of the politburo of PIJ in Gaza, said on Wednesday: ‘We have every right to bomb Israel with our most advanced weapons and make the occupier pay a heavy price. We will not settle for attacking around Gaza, but we will bomb the center of the so-called State of Israel,’ according to The Media Line.”

Well, today, Islamic Jihad fired 100 rockets from Gaza into Israel.

This came after a senior terrorist with Islamic Jihad was killed in an IDF airstrike. Operation Breaking Dawn achieved a good degree of success for the Israelis including the elimination of terrorist leader Tayseer al-Jabari.”

Remember, “caretaker” PM Yair Lapid is running the show (he has the support of Benjamin Netanyahu), along with Defense Minister Benny Gantz. The operation was launched after intel confirmed a major terror attack was in the offing.

Gantz has called up 25,000 reservists after Jabari was suspected of masterminding an attack.

A report also this week from the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center gives some insight into just how the terrorists have contempt even for their own people, often using them as shields and cannon fodder:

“On July 27, 2022, the IDF published a list of Hamas terrorist sites in the Gaza Strip operating in the heart of the civilian population and near civilian facilities. One of them was a terrorist tunnel discovered during Operation Guardian of the Walls. The tunnel shaft is near the Islamic University in Gaza City, which has about 20,000 students, and the tunnel path runs close to UNRWA’s main offices. Another was a site for manufacturing and repairing weapons, located in a residential building about 55 meters (about 60 feet) from UNRWA’s clinics and the Shifaa Hospital. There were also a terrorist tunnel in the al-Tufah neighborhood of Gaza City, whose path runs near an elementary school which serves as an emergency civilian shelter, and a weapons storehouse inside a mosque where activities for children and adolescents take place; the mosque is in the heart of a civilian neighborhood (IDF spokesman, July 27, 2022).”

For a long time now, Gaza has been fairly unpredictable with regard to rocket attacks. When Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon decided in 2005 to pull out of Gaza, it was seen as a goodwill gesture by the West. In fact, one could argue it was a strategic mistake, since Hamas filled the leadership vacuum.

It appears Israel’s intention is simply to maintain relative stability. They know that they periodically will have to go in and put down Hamas, but for now, the terrorists can’t come close to matching IDF capabilities.

That is true, but what a sad reality to watch citizens be killed by their own Arab leadership. “Cleaning-out” Gaza would be a monumental operation. So for now it remains “merely” a powder keg.

Beware the Poles

Of the 3.3 million Jews in Poland before World War 2, only 11 percent remained alive in 1945. Almost three million men, women, and children were murdered in the six death camps: Chelmo, Belzec, Sobibor, Treblinka, Majdanek and Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Particularly beginning in 1941, with the Nazi invasion of Poland, both SS and Wehrmacht units were dispatched by Heinrich Himmler to roam the countryside and towns and villages, dragging humans from their homes and executing them. It was only after murdering staggering numbers that the Germans realized they were using too much ammunition; this led to the infrastructure of the Holocaust, the gas chambers and ovens. Apparently demons roamed the area at that time, as neighboring countries took part in the butchery. Lithuania, Ukraine, and others along with the Poles committed barbaric acts against the Jews.

To say that Poland has a checkered past with Jews is an understatement.

So it was particularly disgusting recently when a Polish contingent visited Israel, taking plenty of the time to slobber over the Palestinian Authority/PLO, even going so far as to advocate for BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions).

Franek Sterczewski of the Civic Coalition Party (whatever that means) paid tribute to the arch-terrorist, Yasser Arafat, who mercifully died in 2004.

“Referring to Israel as an apartheid state, he explained that ‘This is why I wholeheartedly support a boycott and sanction the Israeli settlement in the West Bank. One must not be indifferent to unprecedented and systematic violence.’”

Unprecedented? We again point out Poland’s bloodthirsty history when it comes to murdering Jewish men, women, and children.

Sterczewski also revised history again in remembering Arafat:

“’The Polish parliamentary delegation honored the memory of the first President of Palestine and the leader of the nation. Yasser Arafat was also a friend of Poland,’ the tweet read. Among those tagged in the tweet was the PLO’s Negotiations Affairs Department.”

It was also noted that Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch believe Israel meets the standard of an apartheid system! This is all classic anti-Semitism.

There was also the usual talk of “The Occupation.”

Now, while there were individual Poles that helped Jews as they could during the Nazi reign of terror, it has also been established by historian Jan Grabowski that Poles killed and turned over 200,000 Jews during the war. Grabowski also said:

“As a Polish historian, I think that trying to cover up the less glorious aspects of our own national past – something that’s being done today in Poland with a lot of enthusiasm – is a crime against our profession. It is also unethical and, in the long run, counterproductive and silly.”

A report in Haaretz noted that:

“Grabowski’s book concentrates on a rural region of southeastern Poland called Dabrowa Tarnowska. Of its population of 60,000 on the eve of the war, 5,000 were Jews, almost all of whom were deported to the death camp Belzec. Of 500 who managed to escape and hide among the Poles, only 38 survived the war. All the others, as Grabowski discovered, were betrayed and murdered in direct or indirect ways by their Polish neighbors. The events described in ‘Hunt for the Jews,’ notes the historian Timothy Snyder (author of ‘Bloodlands’), constitute ‘an inquiry into human behavior in dark times from which all can learn.’”

Thirty eight of 5,000. And modern Polish politicians have the gall to visit the Jewish State and allege they are cruel to the Palestinians.

This is where our world is today. Just as I believe the sweeping apostasy (seen most especially in America) is exemplified by 2 Timothy 3, the growing anti-Semitic fervor worldwide is surely an indication we are living in the last days.

For decades after the Holocaust, the international community was either truly shamed by the sheer magnitude of the carnage, or they realized it was politically incorrect—for a while—to sanction it. As time has slipped by however, the Jew haters have crawled out from under their rocks.

The question of how willing the European populations were to help kill Jews 80 years ago has always fascinated me. Further, the lengths they will go to claim they knew nothing is grotesque.

The Polish delegation to Israel has shown us, though, that many don’t even try to hide or deny their Jew hatred.
