Our world is on a downward spiral. Demon activity is exploding.
Satan’s last fling is being prepared and the entire world will be his playground. By the time Satan has finished his last ditch effort to be God, the world will be a wilderness. John the Revelator saw the vision of the end and stated:
“So, he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns” (Revelation 17:3a).
How will Satan take our world with all of its wealth, technology, and capacity for good down, down, down until it is nothing but filth, corruption, and sorrow? The answer is ultimate deception and it has already begun.
Right now, the world is having fellowship with devils. Satan has manipulated the world system of education, entertainment, business, and even most Christian churches into a state of thinking where almost every activity is “fellowship with devils.” When false doctrines of psychology and corrupt theology are the method and message, those present are fellowshipping with devils, not the God of the Bible.
Our world is neatly divided into two camps. Our God operates within the principles of Holy Scripture, while the enemy, Satan, and all his subordinates operate in all other areas of our world outside of the Holy Bible.
The truth of Scripture is the dividing line. Our God is the Sovereign God of the Heavenly Kingdom (invisible at the present) and Satan is the god of this world. That’s very simple, but absolutely true. The only safe people in our world are those living in and by the Word of God.
Devils Are Spirits
Devils are spirits under Satan’s control that used to be heavenly angels. They were cast out with Satan and now serve him wholly. Just like Satan, they go about like “a roaring lion seeking whom they may devour” (I Peter 5:8).
They are spirits, but are constantly looking for a body to possess. They can do great damage in their invisible form, but even greater damage in a visible body. Jesus told of a demon that when cast out was looking for a place to inhabit and then returning to the body, it had possessed before.
“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first” (Luke 11:24-26)
Devils are unhappy when they must exert their darkness without a personal body to use. This truth helps us understand why they go about as a roaring lion, seeking whom they may devour. A demon will spend a long time influencing a person’s life, waiting for the moment they can either obsess or possess them for the greater harm to that person and others.
Whether the demon is invisible or visible, they are constantly trying to have fellowship with you. It is by fellowship that they can communicate to your mind and heart their ideas. Satan always starts with an idea in your heart or mind.
The apostle Paul Warned of “Having Fellowship with Devils”
Let’s look at the incredible statement when the apostle spoke of this possibility:
“Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? What say I then? That the idol is anything, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils. Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?” (I Corinthians 10:18-22)
Paul addressed the Gentiles (heathens) as making sacrifices to devils (another worthy subject) and warned them that they were actually having fellowship with devils in the process. He then stated that no one could drink from both tables (God’s and Satan’s) at the same time. This truth is overwhelming in view of what we can see occurring in our world.
Whatever you are involved in that is outside the truth of Holy Scripture is inside the area of Satan’s control. Anything he controls places every participant in the fellowship of devils. Satan uses this world system and everything in that system’s control to talk his language and have fellowship with those involved.
Example: Watch the news on Fridays and Saturdays and you will constantly get a message of where you should go for entertainment, what you should spend your money on, and, especially, where you should spend the coming Lord’s Day.
On special holiday weekends, the entire news and entertainment world will have you feeling how desperately you need a few days off and where the best place to spend those days is. They will never tell you that this is the rest wherewith He makes the weary to rest (Isaiah 2812). They represent the opposing kingdom. Do you get the picture?
Devils Can Manifest Themselves in Many Ways
It is life or death, heaven or hell, at stake and every person that wants to serve God must learn the many ways Satan seeks fellowship with them. The devil is a trained strategist and will use every possible way to communicate his evil thoughts into your heart and mind. Satan and his devils are religious and love to quote the Bible out of context.
They especially love to twist the literal words of God and give them allegorical or other non-literal meanings. They use little careless statements, such as, “It really means this instead of what He actually said,” or “This is an allegory and should be interpreted this way,” or “That was a cultural style in that Scripture and it does not mean that today.” Such methods are nothing but slick ways that devils have fellowship with unsuspecting people.
The apostle Paul taught this great truth in his second Corinthian letter. He stated:
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you” (2 Corinthians 6:14-17).
This is plain truth clearly stated. There has been a multitude of shipwrecks when this great truth was ignored. It is often missed when studying a passage as this that “fellowship with devils” occurs. Every individual is body, soul, and spirit. Our spirit is either dead in sin or alive in Christ. Whichever is the case, the reality of this fact will be manifest with those we fellowship.
A born-again Christian in dealing with an unsaved person on a “yoked together” basis will be constantly having “fellowship” with another spirit besides the Holy Spirit that controls the saint of God. Of course, the multitude of professing Christians that are unsaved will pay this no attention because there will be no conflict in spirit. There are a host of other areas where “fellowship with devils” will occur. You must learn to discern truth and abide in truth totally.
Making Room for Satan
Satan has been cast out of his chosen position when he rebelled against His Creator. Since that moment he has been a vagabond, roaming, convincing, scheming for a place to manifest his dark deeds. The Bible says that he is the “prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2). This statement specifically shows him as a roamer, floater that has nothing but air in which to dwell and unite his kingdom of devils. Satan has no place, but you can make a home for him and his devils right there in your life, home, or business.
The Scripture states, “Neither give place to the devil” (Ephesians 4:27). Until you give him your life or home, all he can do is “cast his snares” or “set his traps” to catch you. He operates completely outside your person and can only throw his darts and try to make you fearful, doubtful, disobedient, or cause you to outright sin and open the door to him. Bible-believing saints must learn to keep every door closed to Satan and his servants. The Bible and the blood are our standard over which the devil cannot pass.
The apostle Paul spoke of people whom Satan has taken at his will. He said:
“And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will” (2 Timothy 2:26).
The picture is of someone that fell for Satan’s game and in his acts of disobedience Satan made him his captive. It is easy to understand how many people fall into sin or acts of unbelief and in their state of open sin lose all defenses against devils. Their condition becomes dark and unclean, but not hopeless if they will listen to the truth of God’s Holy Book and recover themselves. Satan has no defense against truth and the sacrifice of the blood of Jesus Christ.
The Devil and His Devils Are Defeated
This is the happy part. The devil has been totally defeated by the cross and the resurrection. He is out on bail until the Heavenly Attorney—the Holy Spirit, can complete the preparation for trial. The church must finish its business, the nation of Israel must be redeemed, and then the heavenly court will be called in session. Satan is on a leash until the court date and no one has to be afraid of his dark power.
This paragraph above is to let you know just how complete the victory against Satan has been accomplished. Jesus Christ has paid the price by which the usurper will be cast out and forever judged to the Lake of Fire. Until the court is held and the judgment ensues, we must live in the completed victory of the cross and never trust in our own powers.
Our victory is complete in the Son of God. The letter to the Romans says it clearly:
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement” (Romans 5:8-11).
It is imperative that those who claim His name as Savior begin to live in the victory of the finished work. Satan and his hordes are relentless fighters, but they have no power but what you give them. By the shield of faith we can quench all the fiery darts of his defeated kingdom.
“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked” (Ephesians 6:16).
That shield of faith is not faith you muster, but the faith in the great truths of faith. “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).
