A vision of the Ancient of Days:
“I watched till thrones were put in place, and the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, its wheels a burning fire; a fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, and the books were opened.
Daniel’s vision of the beast ends and then he immediately sees a vision of the judgment of the final world empire and the little horn (the beast). This court is not the Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20: 11-15). The two courts or judgments are similar but there are notable differences. In the vision of this court the ones who are judged are the Antichrist and the final world empire (the nations). The Antichrist is executed and thrown into the Lake of Fire.
God the Father (Ancient of Days) appears as a man who is clothed in a white robe with white hair like pure wool. He has a physical body and He is wearing clothing. The white robe and hair represent perfect justice. British judges, lawyers and politicians wore white wigs for centuries for the same reason. Their justice has been flawed but the justice that the Father gives will be perfect.
The Father sits on a throne that is on fire and its wheels are also on fire. A river of fire also flows from the throne. Fire represents perfect punishment. His throne will literally be on fire during this judgment and also at the great White Throne judgment, but probably is not at other times. The river of fire may be lava, we can’t be sure.
An unspecified number of angels and saints will take part in the judgment. Even though saints are not mentioned here in this vision the Scriptures make it clear that we will be in this judgment as believers and also at the great White Throne Judgment (Psalm 1:5).
