This is so important to understand. No one is without sin! Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” It is because of the sinful state of mankind that Jesus came to earth to be the perfect sacrifice for sin. First John 1:9 promises, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” If you go to the Lord with a repentant heart, ready to live your old self behind, He will take you with open arms, cleanse your life, and record your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life, guaranteeing you eternity with Him in Heaven.
Sadly, though, you will still have to face the natural consequences of your actions. You have lived a life apart from God. You can accept His free gift of grace, but the full effects of that are not felt until you enter into His glory. Now, while you inhabit this earth, you will still suffer the effects of it. Do not think that God has abandoned you if He allows you to go to prison. Instead, face your punishment with integrity, which will be a strong witness for Christ. Consider your time in prison as time you’ll be spending in a mission field where you work for the kingdom of God.
Let me encourage you to seek the Lord daily. Study His Word and learn about His character. Pray, and ask Him to reveal himself to you. You can also ask the Lord to provide a mentor to you as you begin your walk with the Lord. May God bless you as you embark on this glorious journey.
