A depressed person will often have difficulty making decisions; he may stop doing the things he once enjoyed; he may have difficulty getting out of bed or finding energy. Often, he may just seem not right. If this describes your husband, then it sure sounds as though he is depressed.
The question is whether his depression stems from a chemical imbalance or from life changes that have caused him to doubt his worth or fear for the future. The only way to determine the cause, for certain, is to seek professional help. God wants to heal him from within, whatever the cause of his current state. Pray for him and ask the Lord to show your husband how Jesus sees him. Pray that he will recognize that he is vital and important to you and your family and also to the Lord. Ask God to lead you to the right doctor who will use God’s guidance to determine the best way to help your husband.
God is not finished with him yet! Remember what God can do: “He (God) lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand” (Psa. 40:2).
