The hereafter is the time that is yet to be, the future time to come. This word most often refers to heaven. There is a hereafter (heaven) for the righteous, those who are saved through Jesus Christ’s blood sacrifice on the cross.
“We are confident, yes, well pleased to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8).
But is there a hereafter for the wicked? Many verses that clearly teach the wicked will be judged for their sins and spend eternity in the Lake of Fire (Matthew 25.41, 46; Revelation 14.9-11; 20.10-15; 21.8).
“But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death” (Revelation 21:8).
