Revelation 20:4-6: “I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshipped the beast or his image and had not received the mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign for a thousand years.”
There are as many different views about the millennial reign of Christ as there are about the rapture. From the above verses, we can be sure that it comes after the tribulation period–after the Anti-Christ’s rule on earth–and we can clearly see that not all people, not even all Christians, will be present on earth for this 1,000 years.
Revelation 20:2-3: “He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.”
The idea that Satan will not be on earth and will not be able to tempt and spew lies at believers helps us to imagine what life on earth during the Millennium will be like. No depression, no sickness, fear, no worry, no doubt.
If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, let this be yet another reason to want to be on His side. Place your hope and trust in Him and let Him into your life.
