Jesus warned that as His return draws near, many people will profess a belief in Him but will not really be Christians. This is a sad state-of-affairs but it is biblical prophecy being fulfilled. Many church leaders are part of this problem and are leading their congregations astray. Liberal non-biblical doctrines are being manufactured and taught confusing thousands if not millions of seekers. This is all leading to the one-world apostate church, which will be administered by the False Prophet during the Tribulation.
Some people have made a momentary profession of faith but were not sincere and did not truly ask the Lord to forgive them and save them, much less repent. They are blinded by the god of this world and choose what feels good at the moment over serving the Lord with a committed heart and mind.
We can expect this to get more intense as the return of the Lord draws closer. It has also been said that unbelievers are deliberately infiltrating Christian churches pretending to be Christians and causing trouble to make true Christians look bad. We are living in a time of great deception and self-gratification.
“Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven” (Matthew 7:15; 21)
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:1-4).
